UK rapper Central Cee has a lot to say (sort of) on the brief “Billion Streams,” the B-side of his two-song single, Bolide Noir.
Ifind Central Cee (Oakley Neil Caesar-Su) to be interesting. Why, you ask? It’s the British accent, the style (drill music), and, honestly, his distinct look. You could argue that ‘Cench’ is handsome in an unconventional way which is part of the charm. But we’re not examining the rapper’s looks – the tattoos are no measuring stick! We’re examining the music – the bars and flow – on his single, “Billion Streams Freestyle”. Cench keeps shit short and sweet, delivering just north of two minutes of song. “Billion Streams Freestyle” was produced by Kendox.
The backdrop accompanying Cench is respectable. Cee starts off with a bang as he spits, “Said that my bitch was gay, got a billion streams, I’m a mainstream rapper.” Word. From that point on, with his dizzying flow, and that inescapable, heavy British accent, the listener is hooked to what Cench spits. Is it all distinct? No, but, it’s a vibe. From the lengthy verse, there are some ‘banger’ lines. Early on, he admits, “I’m somehow still not used to the lifestyle, but I’m slowly adaptin’ / I’m plannin’ the exit route, I ain’t tryna be thirty years old and rappin’.” That’s fascinating considering Cench is 26. 30 is only four years away for the Gen-Z rapper, so, he only has so much time! Central Cee has plenty more to say. He admits, “I’m too rich to go back and forth with a bitch ‘bout a misunderstanding,” a reference to his alleged cheating (also see, “Did It First”). Also, remember how I mentioned Cench’s look? He comments on them, too: “My hair ain’t done, if I take off my hat, this bitch might think I’m a catfish.” Ultimately, “Billion Streams Freestyle” is, like Central Cee himself, interesting. Is this a five-star rap song? Nope. Is it a four-star? Eh. It’s worth listening to but nothing game changing.
