Carrie Underwood, “Denim & Rhinestones” | Track Review 🎵

Country musician Carrie Underwood sounds marvelous and incredibly consistent on her second single of 2022, “Denim & Rhinestones.”

“Like a classic jean jacket / Sparkle on the back, gotta have it / So good, so, right, you can’t go wrong / When you slip it on.” Yes… though I personally don’t own a jean jacket – BUMMER! After returning earlier in 2022 with single 🎵 “Ghost Story”, 🎙 Carrie Underwood drops the second single from her highly anticipated album, 💿 Denim & Rhinestones entitled, 🎵 “Denim & Rhinestones”.  The 🏆 Grammy-winning country musician sounds terrific as always, continuing to bring the utmost consistency to her craft.

“Denim & Rhinestones” is country enough for her core base yet pop enough for the more casual fan that’s not necessarily a country fan.  The production (Underwood and 🎛 David Garcia) is bright and slick, embracing a country-pop vibe.  Singing about denim/jeans is nothing new for country music, yet in Underwood’s hands, it sounds like a fresh concept.  She makes numerous comparisons, beginning with “Like jet black in a Cadillac / Like Tennessee and a bottle of jack/ Dolly [Parton] and a tape deck on the way back / To sweet home.” You get the idea! Of course, the best part of the song is the centerpiece, the chorus:

“Denim and rhinestones

You’re the smooth and I’m the shine

We’re the neon dancing all night

Denim and rhinestones

You’re the cool and I’m the fire

No, we’re never going out of style.”

Final Thoughts 💭

All in all, as previously stated, Carrie Underwood sounds terrific on “Denim & Rhinestones.” She continues to bring the utmost consistency to her craft.  Her voice never fails to impress! Personally, I love how she sounds against this cooler, poppy backdrop.  Fine preface to Denim & Rhinestones.
