Camilo & Shawn Mendes, “KESI (Remix)” [📷: Sony Latin]Camilo enlists Shawn Mendes for 🎵 “KESI (Remix).”  Here, the remix does what it’s supposed to – enhance a record that was already great.

One of the best singles from 💿 Mis Manos, the sophomore album by 🏆 Grammy-nominated Colombian singer/songwriter, 🎙 Camilo (Camilo Echeverry), is 🎵 “KESI.” “KESI” appears as the second track on the album.  The original features a great melody, great production, and an elite performance by Echeverry.  He delivers truly beautiful, effortless vocals. Furthermore, the playful nature of song, particularly the pre-chorus and chorus, make it a surefire gem.  What could make a gem – particularly one addressing those matters of the heart – even better?  The answer is a remix featuring a fellow Grammy-nominated standout, 🎙 Shawn Mendes!

Everything that made “KESI” shine also makes the 🎵 “KESI (Remix)” shine.  The difference, of course, is some English lyrics from Shawn Mendes.  After Camilo performs the pre-chorus and chorus, Shawn performs the sole verse.  The gist of the verse? Enticing her to be his baby, period.  Post-verse, Mendes performs most of the pre-chorus solo, with some Echeverry contributions, followed by the chorus.  The difference between verse and chorus – exclusively performed in Spanish! From there, there’s a mix between both artists carrying the lead or collaborating with each other.

Final Thoughts 💭

No, “KESI” didn’t require a remix but boy, am I glad Camilo requested one! Shawn Mendes fits the breezy, easy-going vibe of the song well, and blends with Echeverry like a champ.  In this case the remix does what it’s supposed to do – enhance an already great record.  Hopefully, this isn’t the last collaboration we hear between Echeverry and Mendes.
