Grammy-nominated pop singer Camila Cabello enlists rapper Playboi Carti for the energetic and engaging single, “I LUV IT.”
“Supersonic / In your orbit / And I’m bad / Diabolic…” Word, Camila Cabello. The Grammy-nominated pop singer enlists Playboi Carti for her first single of 2024, “I LUV IT”. “I LUV IT” was produced by El Guincho and Jasper Harris. One of the best sounds from the instrumental backdrop are the gooey synths. Notably, it samples a Gucci Mane gem, “Lemonade”, which appeared on his 2009 album, The State Vs. Radric Davis. The rappers ad-libs appear at various moments of the record, while the interpolation/sample are most prominent during the post-chorus (“Lemons on the chain with the V-cuts… / Lemons on their face, watch ‘em freeze up”). Woo!
“I LUV IT” is an energetic and engaging listening experience from start to finish. Cabello never over sings, nor does she underwhelm. Her vocals are S-E-X-Y, period. Furthermore, she has tuneful melodies to bring to life in the verses. “I go soprano, baby, go down low” is one of the most memorable lyrics, appearing in the first verse. The chorus is repetitive – not deep in the least – but it’s catchy as albeit: “I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it / I love it, I love it, I love it.” Yup, it’s clear that Camila, LOVES IT! Playboi Carti delivers the third verse. Without the lyrics in front of you, it’s hard to decipher what he’s mumbling rapping. Even peeping the lyrics, Carti doesn’t say much. He does reference a Novocain, drugs (weed, lean), foreigns (Lamborghini Aventador SVJ), and women (Clermont twins). Regardless of Carti’s appearance, the star of the show is Camila Cabello, and she’s on-point on “I LUV IT”.
