ritish indie rock musician, Calboa is back with a track which puts him even closer to the mainstage of a major festival. He introduces a sound which is new for the rocker, and he brings good old indie back to where it belongs.

I could not help but find close similarities to The Holloways on ‘Admission‘. It opens with a similar lively direction which we used to hear so much from the London group. However, Calboa soon smashes his way forward to a special place of his own. He opens with a powerful vocal performance, and he drives on to meet a chorus which comes with a stadium like quality.

Often switching up his sound with his songs, Calboa also switches up his arrangement on ‘Admission‘. The verse is fast-paced, and it will inspire you to tap along from the moment it kicks off. However, in the chorus, he delves more resonant with an added sentiment. Furthermore, his vocals become more outspread, and he flaunts a melodic hook which will have you gravitating towards him. He sings about his genuine experiences, and he states he will ‘no longer play the fool’. He is sick of a situation which he has found himself in, and he articulates his message accurately on this track.

As the chorus comes to an end, we are straight back into an upbeat tempo. Also, the bridge towards the end is emphatic; it comes sounding similar to something you would expect from rock legends, Kings Of Leon. Calboa then reaches for the mic for another huge send off with the track ringing out of our ears well after listening.

Four out of five – George James.
