Grammy-nominated K-Pop superstars BTS have another hit on their hands with their Japanese ballad, โFilm Out.โ
Itโs safe to say that BTS are kind of DEFINITELY a big deal. The K-pop band has become quite the fixture in the United States. Their impact is even greater following their English-exclusive,
Grammy-nominated, no. 1 hit, โDynamiteโ (it is a pretty sweet record). Never slowing down, the juggernaut comprised of
Jung Kook,
Jimin,
V,
RM,
Jin,
SUGA and
j-hope, are back with a new single,
โFilm outโ. Appearing in a Japanese movie, fittingly, the band performs in Japanese. How cool is that?
On โFilm out,โ BTS slows things down โ a ballad. Doesnโt matter because the results remain F-I-R-E. As always, the sung vocals are beautiful, while the production work ( back number and
UTA) being on-point. Piano fuels the fire during the first verse and chorus โ itโs fitting by all means. Jung Kook and Jimin perform the first verse, while Jung Kook and V take the chorus. By the post-chorus, performed by all and performed in English (โOh-oh / La-la-la, la-la-laโ), โFilm outโ picks up a bit more rhythm and the backdrop expands more.
This full expansion is solidified on the second verse, which adds drum programming. The appearance of RM also brings contrast with his melodic rap Where does SUGA and j-hop come into the picture? That would be the third verse, with Jung Kook joining them on the final line. With some tradeoffs with the chorus, at times, different BTS members perform it or collaborate which is cool. Thereโs also a bridge and outro.
Final Thoughts
It doesnโt matter whether you understand the lyrics or not. โFilm outโ gives BTS another surefire hit โ that should be obvious the first time that you hear it. Ultimately, they sound absolutely fabulous on this ballad, delivering some lovely ad-libs toward the end.
