Rising Pacific Northwest country singer Briana Renae keeps things short, sweet, and traditional on her latest single, “Chasin’ Trouble.”
24-year old rising country musician Briana Renae keeps things ‘short and sweet’ on “Chasin’ Trouble,” which clocks in at a tight 2:40. Ultimately, there’s nothing wrong with that as the Oregon-bred musician ‘brings the heat.’ Renae, who’s influenced by the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Carrie Underwood, and Reba McEntire, released her debut EP, Red Lips, White Lies back in 2015. Now, she’s impacting once more with “Chasin’ Trouble,” a record that thrives off of a traditional countrified sound. Such sounds include guitars playing ‘tried and true’ southern riffs, and a souped-up drum groove, featuring its share of hard-hitting, pummeling percussive moments. As electrifying as the production is, it never overshadows its star, a confident Renae, who sings with an excellent tone while maintaining her composure throughout the record.
The form of “Chasin’ Trouble” is pretty straightforward, idiomatic of traditional country music. There are two verses, with a pre-chorus and chorus following each. Also, there’s a bridge, followed by the chorus that sends the record on home, sigh. Naturally, the chorus is big, energetic, and memorable, giving Briana Renae the opportunity to dig in, yet never over-sing or push too much. Also, Renea lets the musicians flex a little on a brief instrumental section post-chorus.
Final Thoughts
All in all, Briana Renae delivers a confident, well-rounded performance on “Chasin’ Trouble.” Strong vocals, excellent, countrified accompaniment, and memorable songwriting. More folks need to be hearing and be talking about this rising country artist. “Chasin’ Trouble” becomes officially available for purchase on Friday, October 12, 2018.
