Brian Fallon, Sleepwalkers © IslandBrian Fallon returns with “If Your Prayers Don’t Get to Heaven,” an energetic promo single for his sophomore album, ‘Sleepwalkers.

Brian Fallon, the frontman of rock band The Gaslight Anthem is back!  Once again he’s band-less, returning with soulful, old-school single, “If Your Prayers Don’t Get to Heaven.” “Prayers” is the opening song and promo single for his sophomore album, Sleepwalkers (February 9, 2018). Question: is the scenario suggested by the song title even possible?

Perhaps Fallon’s faith is doubtful, but there’s nothing to doubt about the song itself. “If Your Prayers Don’t Get to Heaven” filled with promise, better yet goodness.  The groove is electric from the start, keeping the energy high.  Vocally, he’s compelling, as he’s been consistently over the years, lead or solo. Here, he flaunts his distinct, nuanced instrument to the utmost.  The songwriting is enthralling, embracing thoughtfulness as opposed to the shallowness dominating the airwaves these days.

Final Thoughts

Is “If Your Prayers Don’t Get to Heaven” hit or miss? Hit, without a doubt.  This is the way to kick off an album, chocked-full of heart, energy, and passion.  Brian Fallon shows he’s a beastly frontman/solo musician, but of course, he didn’t even need “If Your Prayers Don’t Get to Heaven” to prove it.
