After releasing “The Weekend”, rough-around-the-edges country singer Brantley Gilbert returns with new single, “It’s About to Get Dirty.” From the opening, it is clear that “It’s About to Get Dirty” has the potential to be a big hit…at least in country music circles. How does the single stack up?

“It’s About to Get Dirty” has an aggressive, country-rock sound.  The production is a pro. Set in a minor key, there is clearly a darker edge. Country through and through, there are no touches of pop or compromises. Excellent rhythm consistently carried by guitar and banjo.  The freedom for the musicians to shed – further amplifies the authenticity.  Finally, there are assertive vocals by Gilbert.  Gilbert has plenty of grit and personality to sell this.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “It’s About to Get Dirty” is well-rounded.  The song doesn’t compromise country music; it keeps it authentic and real. Gilbert’s vocals are aggressive and passionate. Finally, the chorus is catchy and aggressive.
