“Selena” marks only Brandon Furtado’s fourth career single and first of 2021; overall positive results

Furtado has a fine overall voice; he doesn’t under- or over- sing, has some fine nuances, and exhibits a respectable amount of personality

Sleek production from Chris Piquette; gives Furtado a fabulous musical backdrop to sing upon

Nice use of rhythmic guitars and synths

“Selena” sounds like a modern pop record that’s very 2021; Bright and exuberant sounding

Short but ultimately sweet, “Selena” clocks in at just under three minutes in duration

The record features a hella catchy chorus (as to be expected), memorably highlighting ‘Selena’ (“Oh no no no no Selena …”)

Straightforward, accessible form overall; I like the wrinkle thrown in with the mostly instrumental section, with some ad-libs by Furtado

Perhaps there’s nothing game changing, but not everything has to be game changing, now does it?
