blackbear delivers a sick, turn-up joint with “gucci linen,” the fifth teaser track released in advance of ‘cybersex.’ 2 Chainz assists.

Matthew Musto, better known as blackbear, has had a big year – understatement.  His biggest claim to fame in 2017 is his hit single, “do re mi,” but it doesn’t stop there. He dropped a joint project with his bud, Mike Posner (Mansionz) as well as the parent album for his hit single, digital druglord.  If he’s a bit cocky, it’s understandable, right? Blackbear returns sooner than later with a new project, cybersex, arriving on Monday, November 27, 2017.  Ahead of cybersex, he’s released numerous singles, including “gucci linen” featuring 2 Chainz.

 Throughout the course of cybersex, it’s been clear that “turning up” is big part of the modus operandi.  “Gucci Linen” is no different.  The production work is superb – a hard hitting, trap-oriented sound.  It’s not innovative, but perfect ‘fuel for the fire.’ The chorus, performed by blackbear, has its share of corny moments given the wordplay, but it’s absolutely infectious.

“My bed is draped in Gucci linen, uh / I never say, ‘I love you’ to these women, no / Unless you is my mama, yeah / I take her shopping, tell her / ‘You can have anything you want in here,’ ooh / When I’m f*cking, call me Papa, yeah / They saying I’m a problem yeah / I’m high as a bird, Nelly Furtado, yeah / No Nelly, no Nelly, it’s getting hot in here.”

Expectedly, 2 Chainz adds to the corniness, but he rides the beat like a champ.  No, he doesn’t say anything particularly intelligent, but he’s definitely an asset given the sound and vibe of “gucci linen.” In other words, this is his wheelhouse.

Final Thoughts 

How does “gucci linen” ultimately stack up? All in all, it checks off the appropriate boxes.  This is a great ‘turn up’ track, showcasing the swagger of blackbear (as if he really needed to prove himself).  In reiteration, 2 Chainz is an asset, even if he doesn’t offer much substance.  Neither does blackbear, yet, it’s hard to deny how cool the tatted artist is or how enjoyable “gucci linen” is itself.
