Welcome to Lit Music That Lifts (LMTL), or Music Lifts 🎶 🏋 for short! Music Lifts seeks to highlight songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.  Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights!  So, for the 20th edition of Music Lifts 🎶 🏋 (2022), we highlight 🎵 “Your Tears” as performed by 🎙 Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. and 🎙 The Greater St. Stephen Mass Choir.

“Your tears are just temporary / Your tears, are just a release / Of the pain, sorrow, grief…” A musician and pastor who does an awesome job of providing encouragement and inspiration and lifting the spirit to lofty heights is 🎙 Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr.. Morton is renowned for his ministry at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church. There is no doubt that Bishop Morton is filled with the Holy Spirit. He’s devoted to praising God and bringing more souls to Him.  On the gorgeous, moving, eight-minute-plus 🎵 “Your Tears”, he performs with 🎙 The Greater St. Stephen Mass Choir, asserting that God, all-knowing and merciful, will “wipe all of your tears away.” “Your Tears” originally appeared on the 2007 album, 💿 Your Tears.  Later, it reappears on the compilation, 💿 Memorable Moments.

amenBelievers and people of faith will likely be the most moved by “Your Tears” – it goes with the territory.   That said, even nonbelievers can appreciate the faith that is ministered, as well as the emotional highs that occur throughout the record.  This joint is meant to lift spirits and provide hope. Some of the most memorable lyrics testify to no longer crying because of God:

“I won’t have to cry no more

When I reach the other shore

You promised me joy and peace, thank you, Jesus

Oh, what a blessed, sweet relief.”

All told, “Your Tears” delivers a powerful, powerful message.
