Billboard 200 Grooves: Ed Sheeran Takes ÷ to No. 1

Ed Sheeran comes up big on the Billboard 200 with his third studio album, ÷.  Khalid debuts at no. 9 with ‘American Teen.’

Unsurprisingly, Ed Sheeran put up robust numbers on the Billboard 200. ÷ earned the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, thanks to 451,000 units moved.  Honestly, there was nothing standing in the pop singer/songwriter’s way – no offense Khalid.  Khalid was no competition for Sheeran, but the up-and-coming teen R&B phenomenon still earned a top-10 debut with American Teen.  Beyond Sheeran and Khalid, there are plenty of other captivating chart stories from the Billboard 200 dated March 25, 2017.

1. Ed Sheeran delivers with ÷, which debuted resoundingly at no. 1 on the Billboard 200. Expectedly, X jumps from no. 49 to no. 21 in its 142^nd week. + ascends from no. 136 to no. 57 in its 202^nd week.

2. Metallica came up this week. Hardwired…to Self-Destruct ascended from no. 14 to no. 2.

3. Bruno Mars remains at no. 3 with 24K Magic, but experiences “gains in performance.”

4. Future concedes the no. 1 and no. 2 spot this week. Even so he remains a top-five fixture. Future slips from no. 2 to no. 4, while HNDRXX dips from no. 1 to no. 5.

5. Khalid takes his debut album American Teen to a no. 9 start on the Billboard 200.

6. Big Sean lands outside of the top 10 with I Decided. I Decided dips from no. 9 to no. 11 in its fifth charting week.

7. Little Big Town slides 15 spots with The Breaker. The Breaker started at no. 4, but sits at no. 19 this week.

8. Travis Scott gets a lift as Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight ascends from no. 30 to no. 23.

9. After debuting at no. 24, NAV (NAV) dips 11 spots to no. 35.

10. Childish Gambino sees “Awaken, My Love!” ascend from no. 63 to no. 46 in its 14^th week.

11. Aaron Watson free falls following a respectable debut. Vaquero slips from no. 10 to no. 55.
