Billboard 200 Grooves: The Chainsmokers Hit No. 1

The Chainsmokers takes ‘Memories…Do Not Open’ to no. 1 on the Billboard 200.  Pentatonix, Joey Bada$$, and Father John Misty also land in the top 10. 

The Chainsmokers – had a big week on the Billboard 200.  Despite tepid reviews for Memories…Do Not Open, the album debuts robustly at no. 1, moving 221,000 units according to Billboard.  Besides the arrival of The Chainsmokers, some more newbies chart on the Billboard 200 this week, including Pentatonix, Joey Bada$$, and Father John Misty. Hence, there are many takeaways from the Billboard 200 dated April 29, 2017.

1. The Chainsmokers come-up. Alex and Drew take Memories…Do Not Open to no. 1 on the Billboard 200. Collage (EP) sees a slight bump from no. 41 to no. 37 in its 23^rd week.

2. The Chainsmokers knock off Drake, who sees More Life slip to no. 2 after two weeks at no. 1.

3. Ed Sheeran slips down a peg with ÷ (no. 2 to no. 3). As of yet, ÷ has charted for six weeks.

4. Pentatonix lands at no. 4 on the Billboard 200 with PTX Vol. IV: Classics.

5. Joey Bada$$ debuts at no. 5 with his sophomore album, All-Amerikkkan Bada$$.

6. Kodak Black (Painting Pictures) slides down five spots from no. 3 to no. 8.

7. Father John Misty earns his first top-10 album as Pure Comedy bows at no. 10.

8. The Beauty and the Beast soundtrack exits the top 10 this week (slips from no. 5 to no. 11).

9. Khalid remains in the top-15 with American Teen, which moves up one spot from no. 15 to no. 14.

10. Once again, Metallica sees a sizable gain with Hardwired…to Self-Destruct, which ascends from no. 28 to no. 16.

11. Bethel Music debuts at no. 21 with Star-light: Recorded Live on Tour.

12. Rick Ross sees Rather You Than Me dip nine spots from no. 16 to no. 25 in its fourth week.

13. Tech N9ne takes Dominion, his latest set of collaborations, to a no. 28 start on the Billboard 200.

14. The Maine debuts at no. 32 with Lovely Little Lonely.

15. Falling in Reverse starts at no. 34 with Coming Home.

16. The New Pornographers land at no. 35 with their latest project, Whiteout Conditions.

17. MercyMe sees Lifer slide from no. 10 to no. 42 in its second week.

18. Tee Grizzley debuts at no. 44 with My Moment.

19. Joey Feek debuts posthumously with If Not For You at no. 50 on the Billboard 200.
