Danielle Bregoli – aka Bhad Bhabie – is back with another new single, “Trust Me.” This time, she’s assisted by ubiquitous rapper/singer, Ty Dolla $ign.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Danielle Bregoli is going anywhere. At this point Bregoli, the infamous “Cash Me Outside” troubled teen from Dr. Phil is likely better known by her rap persona, Bhad Bhabie. And here’s the thing – she’s actually doing ‘big things.’ Back with another new single, “Trust Me,” due to appear on her debut album, she collaborates with the ubiquitous Ty Dolla $ign. No matter what you think about Bregoli, things are getting pretty serious when it comes to her rap career.
“Trust Me” kicks off with the hook by Bhad Bhabie, which is sung as opposed to rapped. Her voice sounds youthful and airy, with a bit of bite, oh and of course, effects. Lyrically, she keeps it simple (understatement), leading into her first verse. Honestly, most of it is taken directly from the hook, continuing a melodic flow. Following a heaping dose of Bregoli (hook, verse, and hook again), Ty Dolla $ign enters the picture, adding much-needed contrast. The difference between the two is ‘night and day’ – clearly Dolla $ign has nearly 20 years on Bhad Bhabie. Does he say much lyrically either? Nah, but this is a record where vibe is key, and he locks that down.
Final Thoughts
Beyond the best performance of “Trust Me” (Ty Dolla $ign), the production is a huge selling point, helping to create the aforementioned vibe. As a record, this isn’t nearly as annoying personally compared to some of Bregoli’s earlier work. That said, she still doesn’t impress me personally. Yeah, we’ve got a vibe, and arguably, there’s even a smidgen of progression on her part, but, does “Trust Me” make her a legit hip-hop artist we’ll remember years and years from now. No. BTW, she’s still bad, though YoungBoy Never Broke Again gets the most hot water…
