Troubled 14-year old Danielle Bregoli, reborn as rapper Bhad Bhabie, drops her second career single, “Hi Bich.”
Sometimes, it’s easy to lose faith in the music industry. New artists come along – some out of nowhere – and you ask yourself, ‘why?’ That’s sort of the situation with troubled 14-year-old Danielle Bregoli, better known now as Bhad Bhabie. Thanks to the power that be virally, Bregoli could strike it rich as Bhad Bhabie, musical quality aside. As of publication time, she has released three singles: “These Heaux,” “Hi Bich,” and “Whachu Know.”
First the pros. The biggest pro is the fact that “Hi Bich” is only one-minute and forty-five seconds long. Beyond that, the production is simple, but definitely gives Bhad Bhabie a malicious, unapologetic backdrop to rap over. If stretching to find another pro, her repetition of the titular line, “hi bich” is catchy.
Mostly, however, Bhad Bhabie has a hot mess on her hands. Few songs that are 1:45 are going to gain substantial traction. The standard length is three minutes, give or take some seconds. The next problem is the rapping. This is incredibly corny, lacking any redeeming qualities. What makes it worse is that since Bregoli is working with such a tight duration, she should strive to make what she’s spitting worthwhile. It simply isn’t. Think about it – how many folks are looking for a 14-year old rapper to accentuate their music collection?
Final Thoughts
No. Simply no. Bhad Bhabie must step up her game beyond “Hi Bich” if she wants to develop into a serious artist. Yes, she’s earning views. Yes, she’s ‘coming up’ where many more talented musicians aren’t. But, is something like “Hi Bich” really high quality? No.
