BeckMilli, Gotham | Track Review 🎵

It is a release which smashes through the status quo with a new sound rising to the top. It kicks off with a brooding intro which sets the tone for entire piece instantly. I relish the bold piano arrangement as it fastens us into our seats and pushes us forward with genuine power.

BeckMilli then reaches for the mic, and she raps with integrity. Furthermore, the London rapper does not mince her words, and she stimulates with a refreshing flavour. For me, I am unable to locate anything quite like this release elsewhere in the industry. So much so, I am scratching my head on why more female rappers have not followed a similar route.

As the mix progresses, we hear BeckMilli prove that she is not just a potent songwriter but also a stellar storyteller too. Furthermore, I find myself jumping into her shoes with her every word, and as it concludes, I feel as though I have shared the same experiences.

Overall, ‘Gotham‘ is a fine example of what the UK hip hop scene is providing. Also, it picks up where the game left off in 2020. Nevertheless, I am eager to hear what else BeckMilli has in store and whether or not she will stick with this approach. Either way, 2021 could be the year which takes BeckMilli to new heights, and if this track is anything to go by, then she is well and truly on her way.
