bbno$, diamonds are forever [📷: bbno$ / broke]Canadian rapper/singer bbno$ continues to be prolific and shows his versatility on his engaging first single of 2026, “diamonds are forever.”

“I’d fuck my life up for the show ‘cause I’m afraid of goin’ broke.”
Now that’s a statement right there, bbno$ (Alexander Gumuchian).  Our confident, handsome, and talented Canadian rapper and singer remains prolific, starting 2026 off with a bang with “diamonds are forever”.  He wrote “diamonds” with jesse saint john (Jesse St. John Geller), M-Phazes (Mark Landon), and Jesse Fink.  M-Phazes produced It.

“Diamonds are forever” is a departure for bbno$. Although the sound differs from his usual heavy electro-pop sound, the production remains well-rounded.  “Diamonds” thrives on its groove from the jump.  I love the bouncy, rhythmic nature of the beat.  The musical backdrop is modest initially (piano, mellotron-like pad, groove), but the instrumentation grows during the chorus.  The second verse still maintains a modesty in sound, but it is more filled out than the first.  Beyond the sound being a contrast, bbno$ is mellower and more reflective.  Yes, he’s still confident, but perhaps not quite as cocky as say, “it boy”. He sings throughout the verses, as well as the centerpiece, the chorus:

“Money makes us feel like we can almost live forever

And we use it as a cure, but it don’t ever make us better

So I might still walk around the neighborhood, it’s sweater weather

Yeah, this high is temporary, but these diamonds are forever.”

To reiterate, “Diamonds are forever” marks a change of pace for bbno$.  Initially, I was unsure how I felt about it. After several listens, the song grew on me.  It shows that bbno$ has more versatility than he’s giving credit for.
