Seattle rapper-producer Banamak drops his best single yet, brilliantly capturing the millennial spirit on “Youngbloods” featuring NEIQUE.
Self-produced, Seattle, Washington hip-hop artist Banamak (Conner Bloyd) continues to build his career on his latest single, “Youngbloods.” This 26-year old brings a distinct sound to the rap game, including using voices as instrumental elements, and vocal chopping. Focusing specifically on “Youngbloods,” well, it definitely has the millennial spirit in mind. According to Bloyd, “Youngbloods” is “about the struggles that millennials face and the unconventional truths of growing up.” What millennial can’t get on board with that? It should also be noted, he gets the assist from singer, NEIQUE.
“Youngbloods” features enigmatic, chilly production from the start. The sound definitely sets the moody tone for this record. Ultimately, the production work is smooth with the music set in a minor key, anchored by punchy drums. Banamak has a rather easygoing, mellow flow that makes him truly endearing as rapper. When he spits, it never feels forced, yet, he still brings that fire, punch, and killer instinct to the track. Throughout the course of “Youngbloods,” he is on-point about the millennial spirit, commenting on work and pay, relationships and sex, and the outlook for the future. Speaking as a millennial, this is relatable to the nth degree.
Banamak doesn’t get all of the love by himself though. NEIQUE, who sings on the hook, sounds fabulous. This fellow Seattle musicians has such a distinct tone of voice, contrasting Banamak’s agile rhymes. Given the vibes of the record, she’s a perfect fit.
Final Thoughts
The case for Banamak continues to get stronger and stronger. Once again, he’s managed to make magic on the track. Having listened to numerous singles, IMO, “Youngbloods” may be his best yet. Great production, great flow, great vocal collaboration, and maybe most important, a pitch-perfect message makes “Youngbloods” a truly awesome listen.
