B.U.d Is Back With “No More”
Contributed by George James
B.U.d is back and is delighting many with his new track “No More” including myself. I was first sent this release recently by his promotion company, and I could not help but find myself getting drawn in. Passion is leaking out of “No More”, and B.U.d clearly expresses himself from the start. The track is the first I have come across from the US singer. But, I am glad I came across it sooner than later because it is what I was craving (without me knowing it before).
“No More” delves into classic R&B at times but yet remains contemporary at the same time, which is quite a hybrid. Also, B.U.d’s influences are on display here with him taking a leaf out of the books of the many greats who have sung before him. Gradually, the track lays out the story of how he is putting an end to the tears.
For me, it was a soothing listen and left me feeling close to the singer from his deep projection. Ask me who it is similar to? I would probably put it on the same shelf as R&B legends such as Case and Jodeci. But is it the best R&B song I have heard in recent times? Probably not, however, it ticks a lot of boxes which I do not often hear in modern soul and R&B.
Vocally, B.U.d shines brightly. Also, his confidence is evident here with him providing us with a majestic falsetto towards the end of the piece. I am still unsure whether or not that was deliberate or just a fluke recording which ended up making the track: either way, no complaints from me.
Overall it is a solid release from B.U.d. However, it does not quite hit 5 out of 5, but I will get it a high four out of five – George James.
