Aviici, Hey Brother | DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶

In the 9^th edition of DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 (2023), we totally get down with Aviici performing the danceable gem, “Hey Brother.”

DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 is a column that celebrates awesome dance songs from the past and present.  The records that grace DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 aren’t merely limited to music explicitly characterized as dance.  That means all genres of music – electronic, pop, rock, disco, etc. – are welcome as long as the particular song is associated with dance. In the 9^th edition of DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 (2023), we totally get down with 🎙 Aviici performing the danceable gem, 🎵 “Hey Brother”.

“Hey, brother / There’s an endless road to rediscover.” Intriguing! “Hey, sister / Know the water’s sweet, but blood is thicker.”  That lyric right there, it hits hard 😮! The 🎙 Aviici (Tim Bergling) gem, 🎵 “Hey Brother”, which features uncredited vocals by 🎙 Dan Tyminski, speaks to the importance of family.  The chorus of this unique ‘dance’ record, sums it up perfectly: “Oh, if the sky comes falling down / For you, there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.” Beyond the song itself, the music video provides a unique family narrative, associated with wartime America and, of course, the loss of a loved one.  

Aviici was associated with dance, being a DJ and producer, but “Hey Brother” not only has dance cues but also country vibes – yeehaw cowboy 🤠! The countrified vocals and select musical cues are part of the charm and innovativeness of “Hey Brother.”  “Hey Brother,” which appears as the third track on Aviici’s 2013 album, 💿 True, marks the second-biggest hit of his career behind 🎵 “Wake Me Up”. It peaked at no. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2014. RIP Tim.
