After wowing with 🎵 “Maybe You’re the Problem” in April 2022, my excitement for a new 🎙 Ava Max expanded. Unfortunately, fans of the pop artist will have to wait until 2023 for the arrival of 💿 Diamonds & Dancefloors. If Max’s second single from the album, 🎵 “Million Dollar Baby”, is any indication of the excellence she’s going to serve up, then Diamonds & Dancefloors will be well worth the wait!

“Million Dollar Baby” appears as the opener on Diamonds & Dancefloors.  This is a slickly produced number (🎛 Cirkut, 🎛 David Stewart, 🎛 LOSTBOY) that screams dancefloor.  Not only is it readymade for the club, it also mentions those diamonds from the album title: “Diamonds / She turns tears to diamonds / Tryin’ / To find that silver linin’.” Woo! Of course, the star of the show, Ava Max, sings marvelously, imparting the tale of this miracle who “Broke out of her chains, turned the fire into rain.” Essentially, judging by the lyrics, this girl has been through everything, and “got danger on her mind,” yet, again, she’s a “ma-ma-ma-ma… miracle.” I mean, we could go deeper but I don’t think “Million Dollar Baby” requires such.

Final Thoughts 💭

seal of approvalAll in all, “Million Dollar Baby” is another winner for Ava Max.  This is the second advanced single from Diamonds & Dancefloors that indicates Max has a surefire bop of an album on her hands.  Why is “Million Dollar Baby” a winner, besides the fact that ‘she’s a miracle?’ Fun songwriting, electrifying production, a catchy chorus, and awesome vocals from Ava Max make this one a must for your pop music listening rotation.
