Ava Max outdoes herself on “Maybe You’re the Problem,” easily one of the must-hear, certified pop bops of 2022.
“You should takе your little finger and just point it in the mirror / Baby, maybe you’re the problem.” Yes – say that 🎙 Ava Max! The pop standout has returned with a surefire bop that you’re sure to have on replay: 🎵 “Maybe You’re the Problem”. This earworm latches from the moment you hear it. It probably helps that Max has some heavyweights behind the boards: 🎛 Cirkut and 🎛 Jonas Jeberg. The groove, the synths, and the 80s synthpop vibes fuel Ava’s fire big time.
Of course, it’s not merely production that gets the job done on “Maybe You’re the Problem.” First and foremost, Ava Max sings her face off. She has a stellar voice, and over this exuberant backdrop, she sounds utterly sublime. She then, can take the relatable, love-oriented lyrics and sell them to the audience. So, what’s the premise of “Maybe You’re the Problem?” Ava has concluded that her ex caused a lot of the issues within their now defunct relationship. Sure, she took some responsibility. But, she asserts in the pre-chorus, “Worked on myself, opened my eyes / You hate my friends, turns out they were right / It takes two to make it all go right.” So, he blames her, but it’s clear, he bears ample responsibility and hasn’t seemed to realize that. Earlier, in the first verse, Max asserts, “All the things I heard from your ex / Now they make a whole lot of sense.” God, I could analyze this one forever, but, this straightforward, relatable pop gem doesn’t require it – it speaks for itself.
Final Thoughts 💭
I’m just going to say it. God, I love this song! This is the pop record that everybody needs in their life! Great singing, great writing, and infectious chorus, and world-class production. I hope that Max gets her just due commercially with this joint. “Maybe You’re the Problem” is must-hear folks!
