Well, it is steaming hot at midnight when it comes to this naughty, innuendo and sex-laden column featuring songs intended for nighttime. Yeah, we are talking about that after dark, bedroom boom $hi†, ya dig? These unapologetic records often raises both eyebrows and temperature alike. Woo! In the 54^th edition of Midnight Heat (2023), we explore the naughty, sexy vibes behind, “On Schedule” by ASTN.

“Never fails, you always right on schedule.” Woo! Well, being prompt and doing things in a timely fashion is a pro. R&B artist ASTN makes it clear on the single, “On Schedule”, that this girl – she’s always right on time! “On Schedule,” which appears on ASTN’s 2023 EP, Where Do We Go From Here?, is produced by Poo Bear and The Audibles.  The backdrop definitely amplifies the sexiness – the Midnight Heat – of this relatively brief but potent joint.  The slick, modern sound, intact with warm synths and an ‘active’ beat fuel ASTN’s fire .

ASTN serves up smooth vocals. He exhibits plenty of personality and swagger. The melodic lines are quick and rhythmic, idiomatic of hip-hop through and through.  What exactly is she on schedule for? Well, it seems to get him all hot and bothered and potentially, MORE . “No matter any distance you pick up my frequency,” he asserts in the second verse, adding in the pre-chorus, “No matter how busy, I’m on your calendar / Weekend or the weekday you never let me down.” Ooh la-la! Interestingly, sex is never mentioned, though implied.  At the same time, in the second verse, ASTN is bothered that she’s “right on time” elsewhere, but “always in my mind, it’s like telepathy.” The big takeaway is,   “On Schedule” sounds and feels like an optimal sex song.  That Midnight Heat Is hot, baby!
