Whenever you’re in need of a banger, call on A$AP Ferg – FACTS! The rapper has been on autopilot in the banger department since, well, Trap Lord (2013). Ferg doesn’t let us down on “Move Ya Hips,” which ticks off every required box for a banger.  Did you know that there was a banger check list? Anyways, the honorable Ferg enlists Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO to help him out on this brief but potent joint.

After Nicki shouts out producer Frankie P (and mark my word, he deserves it for this sickness), MadeinTYO drops the infectious hook.  “Move your hips, okay / When I be leavin’, she tell me to stay (Ooh).” No, it’s not the least bit deep let alone transcendent, but TYO puts that shit out there.  Clearly, the big takeaway from “Move Ya Hips” is sex. A$AP Ferg confirms such on the first verse, asserting, “Fuckin’ that bitch in the buns / She suck on my dick ‘til it’s numb.” Cliché.  Also, cliché, Ferg brags about the drip – “Burberry on my collar, ooh / Diamonds, they sit in my face, woo.”

Naturally, Nicki Minaj brings the heat on the second verse. Surprisingly, she focuses more on her drip and being incredibly self-confident than sex. “Yo, these bitches really be slow, tell ‘em I’m Billy the G.O.A.T.” Also, during the second half of the verse, Ferg trades some bars with Nicki – a winning formula.

Final Thoughts

All in all, A$AP Ferg delivers another rad banger with “Move Ya Hips.” The wheel is not reinvented but there’s lots to like.  “Move Ya Hips” is short but potent, well produced, and all three artists hold down their respective role.  Works for me!
