English singer, songwriter, and producer Artemas keeps things risqué and sexed-up in his brief single, “xvideos,” named after the adult website.

“I used to think we had it all,” Artemas (Artemas Diamandis) asserts in the verse of “xvideos”, adding, “But then I started hanging ‘round you, babe / But then I started fucking ‘round with you, babe.” Yep, that’s our Gen-Z, English pop singer, songwriter, and producer – always good for an f-bomb and a sex reference.  Of course, the title, “xvideos,” is named after the pornographic video site. The song was released the single, “Fancy”. Like “fancy,” Artemas is ‘sex-positive’ and honest to the nth degree. He and Toby Daintree penned and produced it.

Artemas, fancy [📷: Artemas]There are lots of things to ‘heart’ about the brief but potent “xvideos.” Artemas is at his best when he is ‘nasty’: “Don’t you wanna make a porno, baby? / (Pretty like a, pretty like a, pretty like an actress).”  Oh, snap! Before the excerpted bridge, he tells her, in the chorus, “So let’s fall in love for the cameras / Make ‘em all imagine, pretty like an actress.” Melodically, “xvideos” is tuneful, even with its various effects.  Diamandis’ vocals are filled with colorful effects. Beyond the sketchy, sexed-up lyrics, the musical accompaniment is hypnotic. The backdrop sounds enigmatic, a bit nebulous, and sensual.  The minor-key backdrop is perfect, given the theme, lyrics, and Diamandis’ effects-heavy, haunting vocal delivery.  Running merely two minutes long, “xvideos” is captivating.  “Fancy” is the ‘crown jewel’ between the two, but “xvideos” is, dare I say, stimulating and titillating!
