“Ican’t believe it’s really over…” Ah, those words have been uttered by so many who’ve struggled with that thing called love. Love can be glorious, or it can be a total bi-otch.  Anyways, on 🎵 “WFTWTE”, just the second single by Cali alternative-indie pop/rock group 🎙 Arrlo, the plight of love has definitely taken its toll.  Despite the fact that vocalist 🎙 Sunni Suede is going through hardships in the love department, “WFTWTE” is pretty sweet music to the listeners’ ears.  The diverse sound of the collective definitely shines through, as does Suede’s personal experience with love as a transgender male 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️.  All of this contributes to the distinctiveness of this intriguing, up-and-coming band.

There’s plenty to salivate about when it comes to “WFTWTE.”  First and foremost, the lyrics convey a narrative that almost anybody can relate to on some level.  The love has ended, yet, the protagonist is still struggling with his purported (or actual) mistakes, and how things went down.

“I just got the feeling I was never enough
Lately I’ve been thinking I was holding you up
I could feel you leaving, I kept fucking it up.”

Ultimately, rather than pick himself up, he chooses to “Sit alone in my apartment / Waiting on the world to end.” He later goes on to say, “I know that I’ve been holding out for you /But I don’t wanna give you the satisfaction.” Wrangling with the past is the biggest obstacle, something we all face at one time or another.  Besides the songwriting and theme, we also get a strong vocal performance from Sunni Suede, who has a great knack of knowing when to pull back (verses) and when to be more assertive.  Throw in the driving nature of the productions with robust bass, cutting edge guitars, and pummeling drums, and “WFTWTE” is a surefire bop.

Final Thoughts 💭

All in all, Arrlo shine incredibly bright on “WFTWTE.” Just in case you missed it, let me note again this is only the band’s second single.  Why does this two-minute-and-forty-second joint work so well? Relatable lyrics and theme, great production and sound, and an authentic, well-rounded vocal performance by Sunni Suede.  Impressive? Methinks.
