R&B singer Ari Lennox is incredibly prudent on the short but utterly sweet and surprising single, “Grounded.”
When a single is extremely short, before listening, you sort of prejudge it. How much substance can it possibly have? It can’t be a fully developed song with that brief runtime. It’s unfair mind you but true. Honestly, while exploring various tracks to review, I came across the 🎙 Ari Lennox song, 🎵 “Grounded,” and those where the questions and thoughts that popped into my mind. The good news is that the best way to evaluate any music is to actually listen and see what’s being served up. “Grounded” is a prime example of ‘short but sweet.’
The good news about “Grounded” is that most of my prejudices were easily debunked. While the single doesn’t have lots of lyrics per se, the substance conveyed through the lyrics, as well as the poetry is indisputable. “Grounded” is not a ‘fully developed’ song, but it’s definitely a vibe and a prudent one at that. As Ari Lennox beautiful sings, she provides us with prudence regarding the mantra we should essentially live by. “You’ll grow / Once you are grounded,” she sings, continuing, “Once you are grounded / A pathos or two / Will erase your blues / Wake up and see / Majesty, palm trees.” She definitely has a point!
Final Thoughts 💭
“Grounded” lasts just one-and-a-half-minutes in duration. Still, it’s a surprising, enlightening one-and-a-half-minutes. Ari Lennox blesses us with both her gorgeous pipes as well as her wisdom. No, it’s not a full-length number, and yes, it could’ve made a great full-length at that, but it’s definitely worth listening to and reaping the benefit of the ‘wokeness.’
