21-year old up-and-coming pop singer, songwriter, and producer Anthony Russo shines on his sexy, sleek new single, “2:AM.”
Representing the Midwest (Born in St. Louis, MO), 21-year old up-and-coming pop singer-songwriter and producer Anthony Russo delivers a gem with single, “2:AM.” “2:AM” features Smooth guitar within the production. Ultimately, it embodies the urban-contemporary sound. Anthony Russo delivers silky, smooth vocals, exhibiting a beautiful tone. Notably, he sings with incredible ease, never needing to force things. Throughout “2:AM,” he maintains a suaveness – he’s cool, hip, and chocked-full of swagger. On the first verse, Russo is drinking down his sorrows – “she’s outta reach.” He follows things up with a pre-chorus that’s catchy and well-executed.
“They say something's wrong with me I say, ‘Nothing’s wrong’ Bad bitch on my arm with me, but she ain't the one Not the one for me, you the only one for me Maybe something's wrong with me Yeah, oh yeah.”
The pre-chorus leads into a simple, but memorable chorus.
“And now it's two a.m. I'm up, all in my head Looking at all my friends juice up And I'm on my own.”
It’s followed up by an equally successful post-chorus.
“And they don't know what I'm thinking 'bout They don't know that I need you now And they don't know what I'm thinking 'bout They don't know that I need you now.”
Russo’s vocals are fantastic during the bridge. The vocal production is excellent, while the overall production grows bigger, lusher, and more robust during this section. “2:AM” concludes with an outro, which is the same as the intro: “Tell me, is there something wrong? / Something wrong.”
Final Thoughts
What more is there to say? Anthony Russo is on an upward trajectory. “2:AM” checks off all boxes. Solid production, solid vocals, and compelling songwriting.
