Andy Grammer is one happy ‘son of a gun’ from the start of “Give Love,” a promo single from his third studio album, The Good Parts (December 1). The lyrics the pop musician sings are positive, thoughtful, and uplifting.  Many times, when it comes to pop music, artists focus on highlighting the darker side of things.  That’s not the case with Grammer, who has had a knack for positivity throughout his career – “Keep Your Head Up,” “Honey, I’m Good.,” and “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah).” In addition to the lyrics, he sounds top-notch vocally.  Sure, there are more distinctive vocalists in the game, but Grammer has a rock-solid instrument to bless the world with.

The chorus is golden, arguably, the best part of the song.  It’s catchy, yet maintains the uplifting, good vibes.

“I give love to all of my people / All of my people need love, I give some / I give love to all of my people / All of my people need love, I give some.”

LunchMoney Lewis drops a short third verse.  It’s a respectable change of pace, but the rapper doesn’t do anything game changing.  Then again, neither does Grammer.  It’s respectable – “all good.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, Andy Grammer delivers a well-rounded, thoughtful listening experience with “Give Love.” It doesn’t trump his bests – the aforementioned gems – but it’s a worthwhile addition to his collection.  The world needs more positive vibes like Grammer offers in his music.
