“Let’s get gory, like a Tarantino movie / Don’t wanna talk it out, can we f*ck it out?” Oh, Aminé, what would pop culture have been like without “Caroline” in 2016? The up-and-coming rapper returns with a new “confident AF” single, “REDMERCEDES.” The pre-hook kicks the joint off, chocked full of game from the “Caroline” newcomer.

“With my n*ggas in my red Mercedes / Attitude like f*ck you, pay me / Rolling deeper than Adele when we go out / If the ladies show up, then we show out / With my girl in my red Mercedes / Attitude like f*ck me, baby / Leather seats so she wetter than a pool now / When that thing go up then she go down.”

The lyrics are corny, and at times cliché, but it’s hard to deny the infectiousness. “F*ck you, pay me,” has been used a countless number of times, yet it fits perfectly here.  The sex lines are also predictable, but Aminé successfully constructs the vibe, which continues on the hook.

“This shit so clean, I put that on my life / Red Mercedes beam, it’s a different type.”

With the pre-hook and hook carrying some weight, how does Aminé rock out the verses? On the first verse, he flexes.  Interestingly, he eschews name brand luxury for his own clothing, which is unique.  Oddly, when he brags about his trunk, he spits, “Trunk so big it could fit my reverend.” Okay Aminé, okay.  Similarly, the second verse flexes as well, even throwing a Hunger Games reference: “This game keep me hungry like I’m Katniss Everdeen.”

With lyrical analysis out the of way, the music is sound, though not game changing.  Aminé is supported by a respectable beat, but nothing particularly ‘brand new.’  Still, the work behind the boards is sufficient, giving “REDMERCEDES” the club vibe it deserves.

Final Thoughts

So, how does “REDMERCEDES” stack up? All in all, it’s a good follow-up to “Caroline,” though not nearly as magical or memorable.  Nonetheless, Aminé clearly has something to offer, and “REDMERCEDES” is a continuation of that lofty potential.
