Aminé, Good For You © RepublicOregon rap newcomer Aminé delivers an irresistible, catchy single with “Caroline,” which serves as the promo single from his debut album, ‘Good For You.’

2016 has been chocked full of up-and-coming rappers. Aminé becomes the latest newbie making noise on the Billboard Hot 100.  The song that is elevating the Oregon rapper’s profile is “Caroline.” “Caroline” thrives off of sex, but also references Quentin Tarantino movies… go figure.

“Shut up and shut up and / let’s get gory like a Tarantino movie.”

From the start, Aminé is lusting after Caroline, characterizing her as a “Bad thang, fine as hell, thick as f*ck.”  She’s bad because “shawty really blow the pipe,” cleverly referencing both weed and fellatio.  Continuing throughout the verse, he plans to be busy throughout the course of the night, with his size strengthening his game:

“Cause we gon’ be up all night, f*ck a decaf / you say I’m a tall thug, guess I’m a G-raffe…”

Beyond the rhymes, the production work is a selling point, specifically the highly rhythmic beat.  The synths don’t hurt the cause either, fueling the fire for him.  “Caroline” isn’t incredibly complex – the first and second verses are identical – but it’s clever.

Final Thoughts

Listening to “Caroline,” it is easy to see why it has become a hit for Aminé.  It is well produced and incredibly catchy.  The Oregon MC doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but there is a freshness about “Caroline” that amplifies its success. Will Aminé become the next big thing? Time will tell or his next single – whichever comes first.
