Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the 19th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Fineshyt” performed by Amaarae.

“There’s room in my body / I taught it to party / It’s gnarly, it’s naughty to stop,”
Ghanaian American R&B and Afrobeats singer-songwriter Amaarae (Ama Serwah Genfi) asserts in the first verse of “Fineshyt”.  “Fineshyt” is the ninth track on her 2025 album, BLACK STAR.  According to Ama, her girlfriend is the sugar, honey, and iced tea. And, no, she’s not just any shit – she’s fineshyt! Amaarae co-wrote “Fineshyt” with Maesu, Kyu Steed, and Ape Drums. Steed, Ape Drums, and BNYX® produced this, fine shyt!

The most unique sound of the record is the pitched-up, effects-heavy, rhythmic vocals of Amaarae. If you couldn’t already tell from the lyrics excerpted earlier from the first verse, Amaarae thinks this girl is hot – “she’s fine.” Of course, the infectious chorus ensures the world knows, she’s fine shyt!

“She’s my fine shyt

I love her, then I don’t

She always on the phone

I give her what she want

My fine shyt

She can’t be out alone

I’m buying all her clothes

It’s whatever she want.”

The second verse is more rhythmic than the first and features more musical accompaniment.  The adulation continues, as Amaarae characterizes her as “My new sexy machine /… I like your new physique.” Ooh-la-la! She adds, “I like my bitch too much / You know I do too much / Always do too much.” When you’re into somebody, don’t we all do too much? There is a third and final verse, which is bridge-like, contrasting the first two.  The sentiments are the same, however.  “She spending all my money / I’m ‘bout to get more,” she sings, and adds, “My Barbie in the club / And she’s out of control / I never give her up / ‘Cause she knows how to go.” An extended chorus puts a bow on the fine, Fineshyt”.  Amaarae proudly claims what’s hers: “She’s my boo, mine / She’s mine, I love her.”  Nothing more to say, but love is love, baby, and we all love our fine shyt… if we are lucky enough to find it, sigh.
