“Nothing’s the same as it used to be / Even my friends can’t talk to me / Used to have fun now we only get together…” Who can’t relate to this right here? Furthermore, 🎙 Alexander 23 and 🎙 Jeremy Zucker on the same song? That sounds like a squad you can rely upon! Backtracking a bit, Zucker has appeared numerous times on The Musical Hype. As for Alexander, the collaborative single at hand, 🎵 “Nothing’s the Same,” marks his debut appearance. Welcome, welcome, welcome!

In all seriousness, “Nothing’s the Same” is an enjoyable and pleasant pop single.  For the most part, the guys keep things simple musically. How so? Well, they write, produce, and obviously perform the song themselves.  In an era where a stacked team of writers is common, it’s nice to see things scaled down and done ‘in house’ so to speak.  That also fits the times given how the coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone’s lives, including musicians greatly. While I wouldn’t characterize “Nothing’s the Same” as being a song filled with many frills if any, it’s sound with both artists singing well and honestly about their feelings and the uncertainness going down.  Zucker asserts on the first verse, “So uncomplicated by the weather in December, think I’ll stay in for the winter,” which speaks to days running into each other.  As for Alexander 23, he brings a bit more of a relationship element, yet, like Jeremy, the emotions are still bothered: “You go ahead you’re probably better off without me / Just take a look at all the heartbreak that surrounds me.”

Final Thoughts 💭

All in all, Alexander 23 and Jeremy Zucker accomplish exactly what they set out to do.  The results are positive.  Simple musically, but quite relatable to any and everybody.  No, “Nothing’s the Same” isn’t particularly flashy but certainly pleasant and well-rounded.
