Alex Sampson, Til The World Gets Sick of Us | Track Review 🎵

Gen-Z Canadian musician Alex Sampson may be young, but he showcases his musical talent on his fourth single of 2023, “Til The World Gets Sick of Us.”

“We watched Shrek 2 over Zoom, you were in your bedroom / Told you looked cute, but your face turned blue.” Aww, aren’t those the cutest lyrics ever? Those are the first two lines of the first verse of 🎵 “Til The World Gets Sick of Us”, the fourth single released by Canadian singer/songwriter, 🎙 Alex Sampson, in 2023. While Shrek 2 may seem like a bit of a childish choice 😏, consider the fact that Alex is currently 19 years old – basically, still a ‘kid.’ Gen-Z he may be, but Sampson shines on this brief, energetic joint. Sampson penned “Til The World Gets Sick of Us” alongside producer, 🎼 ✍ 🎛 Dylan Rouda.

The energy arrives early on, thanks to a potent groove, and a wall of sound during the intro.  This intro prefaces what is to come during the chorus, the centerpiece of “Til The World Gets Sick of Us.” During the first verse, where Shrek 2 is mentioned, Alex delivers cool vocals.  Even showcasing poise, Sampson benefits from pummeling drums as part of the accompaniment – always a win 💪! Alex’s vocals are more assertive during the second verse, where he references his youth: “Too young, so young, what do we both know / ‘Bout love, true love and the way it grows.” Kids and young adults often find themselves dubbed as naïve when it comes to certain life experiences, something Alex highlights superbly with those lyrics.  Of course, as mentioned earlier, the section to beat is the chorus, which is fun and incredibly tuneful:

“I’m here when the walls start closin’

I’m here when the sky starts fallin’ down

We’ll dance through a broken city

We’ll scream ‘til the world gets sick of us.”

Woo! Alex Sampson may be young, but this Canadian musician has a lot going for him including his dashing good looks (see his IG), and most importantly, his musical talent. Alex, the world won’t be getting sick you anytime soon!
