Alex Aiono, Does It Feel Like Falling © Interscope21-year-old, pop heartthrob Alex Aiono returns with a new, exuberant, single, “Does it Feel Like Falling,” featuring Trinidad Cardona.

It’s been a while since we heard from up-and-coming, 21-year-old, pop heartthrob Alex Aiono.  The talented musician, whose been doing covers and mash-ups on YouTube for a minute dropped a couple of singles earlier in 2017.  Those were slick, modern pop numbers “Work the Middle” and “Question.” Neither song broke through to the mainstream, but that’s the music biz for you.  Nonetheless, Aiono takes another stab at breaking through with a new single, “Does It Feel Like Falling,” assisted by Trinidad Cardona.

The first thing to note about “Does It Feel Like Falling” is the production work.  This is representative of the modern pop idiom, clearly the sweet spot for Aiono.  Furthermore, the feel and overall vibe is a danceable one, incorporating some Latin cues into the mix.  Vocally, Aiono has an excellent set of pipes, made for pop music.  Specifically, his falsetto shines on the chorus.  As for the chorus section itself, it’s simple, repetitive, and incredibly catchy.

“Does it feel like / Falling, falling for you / Falling, falling for you / Falling, falling for you.”

Trinidad Cardona drops a respectable pop-rap verse near the end of the song, preceding the final chorus. The lead-in is thoughtful – a brief bridge by Aiono.  All in all, “Does it Feel Like Falling” checks off the appropriate boxes.

The cons are few ultimately.  “Does It Feel Like Falling” is an enjoyable, well-rounded record, but by no means the second coming.  Could this be the song that breaks Alex Aiono into the mainstream? Perhaps…or it may not be.  “Work the Middle” and “Question” weren’t shabby either…

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Does it Feel Like Falling” is a solid joint.  Alex Aiono continues to show why he’s got next, whether the mainstream embraces it or not.  This dude’s got the look, the vibe, and of course, the voice.  No, “Does it Feel Like Falling” doesn’t make a big statement, but, potential is written all over it.
