Alec Benjamin, These Two Windows [Photo Credit: Alec Benjamin]Pop singer/songwriter Alec Benjamin releases a terrific fifth single, โ€œOh My God,โ€ in advance of his debut LP, These Two Windows.

The moment has finally arrived โ€“ Alec Benjamin is releasing his official debut album, These Two Windows.ย  Sure, Benjamin released Narrated for You in 2018, but that was a mixtape.ย  These Two Windows, which arrives April 3rd,ย  is comprised of singles standout singles โ€œMust Have Been the Windโ€ (2019), โ€œJesus in LAโ€ (Summer 2019), โ€œMind is a Prisonโ€ (2019), โ€œDemonsโ€ (2020) and the newest advance offering, โ€œOh My God.โ€ Also, on another note, โ€œOh My Godโ€ marks the 100th track review penned in 2020 โ€“ letโ€™s celebrate!!!ย

โ€œOh My Godโ€ continues the sheer excellence that Alec Benjamin has exhibited over his past couple of years during his burgeoning career.ย  First and foremost, his voice is absolutely gorgeous. ย He has a truly distinct sound, with a youthful, boyish quality that sounds quite innocent and sweet.ย  Sure, heโ€™s in his mid-twenties, but that youthful sound is quite alluring.ย  Even if he sounds younger than he is, his songwriting continues to be mature, authentic, and quite relatable.ย  On โ€œOn My God,โ€ he co-writes with Julie Frost and Nolan Lambroza with positive results.ย  Lambroza (Sir Nolan) also co-produces along with Johan Lenox, giving Benjamin a superb, balanced music backdrop that complements his voice.

The voice is magnificent.ย  The writing and production are also huge selling points.ย  Elaborating on the writing and theme a bit more, Benjamin examines himself โ€“ how heโ€™s forgotten who he was and changed essentially. โ€œIโ€™m running out of oxygen,โ€ he sings on the pre-chorus, continuing, โ€œIโ€™ll never be the same again now.โ€ The centerpiece is the chorus:

โ€œOh my god, I canโ€™t remember
Who I was just last December
What have I done, how did I get here?
What have I done?
Oh, my god, look in the mirror
I was young, nothing to fear once
What have I done, how did I get here?
What have I done?โ€

Final Thoughtsย

Again, as I listen to Alec Benjamin, I get angrier and angrier that ANYBODY dropped him from a major label โ€“ what a talented guy.ย  โ€œOh My Godโ€ is another moment where this 25-year-old continues to flex his muscles โ€“ well, his musical abilities rather. ย Great voice, great songwriting, and well-rounded production makes โ€œOh My Godโ€ is surefire winner.ย  Donโ€™t ever sleep on Mr. Benjamin.
