~ Album Reviews 💿 ~

Ah, welcome to the page that is dedicated solely to album & EP 💿 reviews. LPs and EPs of various styles are evaluated in this section of The Musical Hype – we don’t discriminate. Album reviews are also available on the home page. More often than not, the album reviews on the site tend to follow a track-by-track format, commencing with an intro paragraph comprised of background information, and concluding paragraph that wraps things up. Also, GEMS – the best, highly recommended tracks – are selected at the end of each review. Each album also receives a star rating, on a scale of 0 – 5 (½ stars are used as well), that is visible at the beginning and ending of the review.

5 out of 5 stars = MASTERPIECE

4.5 out of 5 stars = NEAR MASTERPIECE

4 out of 5 stars = EXCELLENT

3.5 out of 5 stars = VERY GOOD

3 out of 5 stars = AVERAGE / GOOD

2.5 out of 5 stars = BELOW AVERAGE

2 out of 5 stars = MEDIOCRE

1.5 out of 5 stars, 1 out of 5 stars, 0.5 out of 5 stars, 0 out of 5 stars = BAD

It should not come as a surprise to see the analysis run north of, say, 1000 words. So, music enthusiasts everywhere – Musical Hypeians worldwide – get your fix of album reviews down below!!!

Phoenix, Bankrupt! | Album Review

French alternative rock collective Phoenix never miss a beat on Bankrupt! a compelling follow-up to their Grammy-winning 2009 LP,  Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

Fantasia, Side Effects of You | Album Review

Fantasia delivers an enjoyable fourth studio album with ‘Side Effects of You.’ It’s imperfect, but all in all, well-rounded.

Kid Cudi, Indicud | Album Review

Although lengthy and overstuffed, Kid Cudi delivers plenty of intriguing moments throughout the course of his third studio album, ‘Indicud.’

Jake Miller, The Road Less Traveled | Album Review 💿

Up-and-coming, 20-year-old, Florida hip-hop/pop artist Jake Miller shines on EP, 'The Road Less Traveled.'

Tyler, the Creator, Wolf | Album Review

While his sophomore album ‘Wolf’ is still ‘rough around the edges,’ Tyler, the Creator packages the album more responsibly than 'Goblin.'

Lil Wayne, I Am Not a Human Being II | Album Review

‘I Am Not a Human Being II’ is a good Lil Wayne album, not an elite one. Sometimes he’s ‘on,’ while other times, he's less inspired, recycling past ideas.

Charlie Wilson, Love Charlie | Album Review

Following an illustrious career, with nothing to prove, veteran R&B musician Charlie Wilson delivers a solid R&B affair on his 2013 LP, ‘Love Charlie.’

Conor Maynard, Contrast | Album Review 💿

British pop artist Conor Maynard puts the Justin Bieber comparisons to rest on his enjoyable, suggestive debut album, 'Contrast.'

No Doubt, Push and Shove | Album Review

No Doubt returns after an 11-year hiatus between studio albums. ‘Push and Shove’ serves as the band’s follow-up to Rock Steady, which bowed in 2001.

Green Day, ¡Uno! | Album Review

Overall, '!Uno!' Is a solid and sound effort from Green Day. It accomplishes its purposes to resurrect the band’s punk roots.
