A
kil B. Strange, a pioneering rapper from New York, has released a new album ‘Everything You’ve Heard Is True’, which exudes the hip-hop excellence that has been his trademark. The arrival of the album features the forward-thinking musician collaborating with a close friend and producer, Rodney Hazard, who adds an extra dosage of quality to the album.Compared to other albums currently filling the airwaves, ‘Everything You’ve Heard Is True‘ possesses a raw underground flavour while still maintaining its modern status and living up to industry standards. It begins with a track that serves as a prelude called ‘Good Morning‘, and then transitions into the album’s most notable track to date, ‘Weight On Me‘. The beginning of the album has an atmosphere that is easy to become engrossed in, and as we move closer to the edge of the speakers, we hear Akil unleash a riveting rap delivery.
The seventh track on the album is ‘Infanty‘. It begins with a captivating opening, which is a news report reporting about a severe crime that has taken place. This song reminds us of the chaos in society, and it hits homeward with its realistic portrayal of current events. The music soon begins to unfold, and it gradually reaches the surface, at which point Akil comes in strong with a rap hook that remains in our minds for a long time after he has finished.
This album reads almost exactly like a book, complete with beginnings and endings to each chapter. The song ‘Serotonin‘ comes after the interlude towards the later half of the record. It follows a path that was discovered before but in an even more unique manner. The vocal remains at a distance in the mix here, and the music does much of the driving. A laid-back vibe comes into play, pulling us further into Akil’s world.
