“Odyssey” by AKA KELZZ is a celebration of emotional freedom and self-discovery. Moreover, the singer who resides in Berlin takes us on a trip through vulnerability, resiliency, and delight using a soulful voice and varied mix of genres. Every song is a created vignette and AKA draws inspiration from the likes of Dennis Brown, Sade, and Jill Scott to create a contemporary sound which stands out!
From the rhythms of “MEMORIES” to the cathartic anthem “RAGE,” this album catches the highs and lows of embracing your actual true self. Setting the tone as a drum-and- bass-fueled mantra of healing and transformation, the albums opening track, “ALIGNMENT,” drives us into a state of self-reflection and rejuvenation. “CXNNECTIONS” buzzes with flirting intensity, honouring those brief but significant moments of connection that provide fresh opportunities.
Deeply exploring the challenges of worry and self-doubt, tracks like “HOLD ON” and “P.D.L.M.D (Please Don’t Let Me Down)” provide a consoling hand to everyone bearing world weight. These track prove how well AKA KELZZ can combine innovation with honest feeling to produce music that really speaks to people.
“CRY” offers a nostalgic tribute to dancehall by fusing sensuality and catharsis in a way that lets listeners enjoy their path and let go of restrictions. Conversely, “IN MY ROOM” offers a fresh, honest song for people who have ever felt invisible by playfully winkingly at queer love and connection.
