Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the 91st edition of Beaming with Pride (2025), we highlight “Wasted” performed by ADONXS.

“I don’t wanna get into another fight, we always overcomplicate it / I just wanna bite the bullet now before there’s nothing left to save.”
Thought-provoking lyrics, firmly entrenched in matters of the heart.  Those lyrics are performed by the handsome, deep-voiced, openly gay Slovak singer ADONXS (Adam Pavlovčin). Pavlovčin follows up his Eurovision Song Contest 2025 single, “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”, with another gem, “Wasted”. Fun fact: “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” was chosen as Pavlovčin’s Eurovision entry over “Wasted”. Pavlovčin penned “Wasted” with Belgian singer-songwriter Udo Mechels and Dutch producer Remy Borsboom (Remy Cooper).

“Wasted” commences abruptly with ADONXS singing (“It’s so hard to say our goodbyes”).  The tone is set for… the end of the relationship. Pavlovčin captures this ending stunningly with his beautiful, nuanced, and expressive vocals. A mighty talent, the depth of his voice carries weight. Pavlovčin sings with great control, understands when to pack an even bigger punch, and wows with his top-notch ad-libs. The melodies are radiant, with the pre-chorus melody being playful and rhythmic (excerpted earlier).  Of course, the verses establish the fading love story: “I know it’s hard to explain / It cuts us so deep, I chose to lose love today.” Word.  The chorus marks the grandest section of “Wasted.” The second iteration is even bigger and more glorious:

“We’re wasted

Sorry that we didn’t make it

Gave it my all, couldn’t change it

Now that we’re through, it’s less faded

Oh, wasted

Don’t want our love to be jaded

I know your heart feels so weighted

I’ve treasured the memories we tasted

Oh.”

Oh, indeed, ADONXS. He’s accompanied by a lush, sophisticated, warm production. This is pop, but pop with some marvelous orchestral cues and sensibilities.  “Wasted” didn’t make the cut for Eurovision, but it is no wasted opportunity.  Its arrival marks another win for ADONXS,  who is a gifted, out and proud artist.
