ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out 7 notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and 7 observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Adele remaining no. 1 on both charts.

Billboard 200 📉

Adele, 30 [📷: Melted Stone / Columbia]💭 After a robust first week, 🎙 Adele sees 💿 30 remain in the top spot on the Billboard 200.  According to Billboard, she still moved an impressive 288,000 units.

💭 Also for a second consecutive week, 🎙 Taylor Swift sits at no. 2 with 💿 Red (Taylor’s Version) in its third week on the charts.  

💭 one of the more popular holiday releases, 💿 Christmas by 🎙 Michael Bublé, ascends from no. 9 to no. 1 this week in its 96th week on the Billboard 200.  Also getting some top-10 holiday love is 💿 A Charlie Brown Christmas (Soundtrack).

💭 🎙 Anuel AA earns the highest debut on the Billboard 200 at no. 30 with 💿 Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren.

💭 🎙 Tony Bennett and 🎙 Lady Gaga re-enter the charts at no. 65 with their jazz duets album, 💿 Love for Sale, following their CBS special.

💭 Following its October 15, 2021, release 🎙 Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit see their Georgia-related covers album, 💿 Georgia Blue, debut on the charts at no. 83.

💭 🎙 Norah Jones debuts at no. 156 with her holiday album, 💿 I Dream of Christmas.


Billboard Hot 100 📉

💭 The entirety of the Hot 100 is filled with holiday cheer! Top honors belong to 🎙 Mariah Carey (🎵 “All I Want for Christmas is You”, no. 3), 🎙 Brenda Lee (🎵 “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, no. 4), 🎙 Bobby Helms (🎵 “Jingle Bell Rock”, no. 5), and 🎙 Burl Ives (🎵 “A Holly Jolly Christmas”, no. 7)

💭 After making a huge impact, 🎙 Taylor Swift continues to see “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” slide down the charts.  In its third week, it slides from no. 4 to no. 21.

💭 🎙 GAYLE is on the rise with 🎵 “abcdefu”, which rises from no. 51 to no. 24 in its second week on the chart.

💭 🎙 Rod Wave debuts at no. 58 with 🎵 “By Your Side”.

💭 Country duo 🎙 Dan + Shay launch at no. 77 with their holiday single, 🎵 “Pick Out a Christmas Tree”.

💭 🎙 Jessie Murph earns the final debut on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Always Been You”, which launches at no. 95.
