“Postmortal Coprophagia.” Goodness! The prefix post means after. Mortal has a number of meanings, but death is commonly associated with the word. As for Coprophagia, it is eating feces. How gross is that? Interestingly, this occurs with dogs.  But of course, Devourment doesn’t seem to be singing about dogs.  Instead, the death metal band constructs a song about eating feces – “violently consuming shit” – following death.

Epicardiectomy, a brutal death metal band from Prague, is named after a heart procedure. “Embalmed in Mephitic Placental Substance”hails from an album named Putreseminal Morphodysplastic Virulency.  Focusing on breaking down the song at hand, according to Merriam-Webster, to embalm is “to treat (a dead body) so as to protect from decay.” Mephiticis related to mephitis or “a noxious, pestilential, or foul exhalation from the earth.” The placenta “unites a fetus to the uterus,” without getting to technical. So, essentially, the body has been treated in an absolutely disgusting substance…

Merciless is devoid of mercy – lacking any sense of conscious – pitiless in the eyes of Merriam-Webster.  As for infanticide, that’s killing babies.  Put the two words together, and Belarus slamming brutal death metal band Extermination Dismemberment are singing about killing babies without giving a flip on “Merciless Infanticide.” Certainly disturbing.

4. Gortuary, “Pedophile Manipulation”

San Diego, California brutal death metal band Gortuary is definitely ‘one of a kind,’ something they absolutely prove on “Pedophile Manipulation,” a song from their 2008 album, Manic Thoughts of Perverse Mutilation. Pedophilia is “sexual perversion in which children are the preferred sexual object.” I think I just threw up in mouth… Meanwhile, if you manipulate something or someone, you “control or play upon by artful, unfair, or insidious means, especially for one’s own advantage.” Put two and two together, and it’s clear a pervert is controlling an innocent child.  Who writes a song about such utter perverseness?

This one’s simple to breakdown, based upon the title.  If something or someone is skinned, the skin is removed. If someone is f**ked, it’s an obscene slang word for being “screwed,” regardless of the context. Put the two words together, and it’s obvious Ingested are being utterly perverted, not to mention committing a number of crimes lyrically (rape and murder).

6. Septic Congestion, “Necrotize Tissue to Evolve Mutation”

If something undergoes necrosis, it’s dying.  If it’s necrotic, it’s dead.  In most contexts, both refer to dead tissue.  To evolve is “to undergo evolutionary change,” or so Merriam-Wester puts it. As for mutation, it’s “a relatively permanent change in hereditary material…”  So, what’s going down in the Septic Congestion song “Necrotize Tissue to Evolve Mutation?” The death of tissue in order to change heredity… Wow.

7. Traumatomy, “Growing Venomous Trichomes”

Ah, we move on to Traumatomy, a Russian-Japanese slamming brutal death metal band.  The song at hand is the colorfully-titled “Growing Venomous Trichomes.” Growing means “springing up and developing to maturity.”  If something is venomous it is filled with venom, which is usually poisonous.  The only word that is difficult of the bunch is trichomes, which Encyclopædia Britannica describes as part of plant anatomy, at its simplest, “plant hair.” It should be noted that when Googling trichromes, cannabis is a popular result…  So, the band is developing poisonous plant hair? 8. Virulency, “Immeasurable Gigantomastic Phenomenology”

Another band (Virulency), another wacky song-title (“Immeasurable Gigantomastic Phenomenology”).  If something is immeasurable, it can’t be measured.  Essentially, there’s a big quantity – too much to measure.  If something is gigantic, it’s big – huge!  That leaves the most difficult word being Phenomenology, Encyclopædia Britannica describes it as follows:

“Phenomenology, a philosophical movement originating in the 20th century, the primary objective of which is the direct investigation and description of phenomena as consciously experienced, without theories about their causal explanation and as free as possible from unexamined preconceptions and presuppositions.”

Okay, what? The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy summarizes it in a friendlier fashion.

“Phenomenology is the study of structures of consciousness as experienced from the first-person point of view.”

9. Visceral Disgorge, “Necrocoprophagia”

Visceral Disgorge certainly puts a ‘treat’ together with “Necrocoprophagia.”  While most won’t know what the title means seeing it for the first time, what should be obvious is that it’s nothing good.  Essentially, Visceral Disgorge put two awful words together.  Necro– is a prefix for dead (think necrosis, necrotic, and worse, necrophilia).  As for coprophagia, it is eating feces, which is a sexual paraphilia. The result is “Necrocoprophagia” – dead, sexually-motivated arousal that involves partaking of feces…  Some of the explicit, NSFW lyrics are as follows:

This playlist keeps getting darker and darker – filthier and filthier. South African slamming brutal death metal band Vulvodynia is named after a vaginal condition.  Charming. Nothing about the record “Bestial Insemination” is particularly ‘warm and fuzzy.’  If something is bestial, it relates to beasts – often animals (see where this is going).  Inseminationis a method of creating pregnancy, in nicest and simplest terms.  Here, it’s obvious than improper sex acts and pregnancy are occurring – we’ll leave it at that.  Making things even more twisted, there’s a lack of consent…

11. Vulvectomy, “Gangrenous Testicular Deformity”

South African slamming brutal death metal band Vulvodynia is named after a vaginal condition.  As for Italian brutal slam death metal band Vulvectomy, they’re named after a gynecological procedure – again, we’ll leave it at that.  The song at hand in this case is “Gangrenous Testicular Deformity.” Oh brother! According to the Mayo Clinic, “Gangrene refers to the death of body tissue due to either a lack of blood flow or a serious bacterial infection.” Testicular refers to the testicles– no further explanation necessary.  If something is deformed, it was incorrectly developed from the norm. Ultimately, Vulvectomy gives us a song that encompasses
“bacterially-infected, improperly developed, balls.” Say that with a straight face!

Our final death metal band, Whoretopsy, hails from Melbourne, Australia.  They bring the explicitly titled “Jackhammer Skullf**k” to the table.  In this context, it’s clear that jackhammer isn’t referring to the tool – or at least that kind of tool.  We’ll opt for the Urban Dictionary definition: “A very aggressive way of f**king, using long strides with a very fast tempo.” Jesus. For skullf**k, we also look to UD for assistance: “The action of inserting one’s erect penis into the eye-socket of another person and proceeding to thrust your hips back and forth, thereby ‘f**king’ their skull.” WOW! Does such utterly disgusting, filthy stuff like this really happen?
