Absolutely Filthy Death Metal Songs, Vol. 1 is comprised of 13 shocking, extremely bold death metal songs.  Featured bands include Cattle Decapitation, Devourment, and Infant Annihilator.

The basic criteria for this particular playlist is as follow. (1) The band must be a death metal band.  (2) The selected song must have an explicit, quirky, random, strange, or unusual title. 1. Aborted, “Meticulous Invagination”

“My name is Ted, indifferent to laws I strangle and maim women

… Incapable, defined is the hatred that lead to this carnage.”

Aborted excellently capturing the horrific acts of serial killer Ted Bundy on the incredibly disturbing “Meticulous Invagination.” A dark, twisted trip from the start, Aborted doesn’t sugarcoat anything, keeping thins graphic to the nth degree.  Although it’s difficult to decipher the lyrics without them as a reference, with the lyrics, the horror is more disgusting, frightening, and utterly perverse.

“Again, I hack, enjoying every blow
I batter her c**t into pulp
Victims are idealized, a predestined massacre
Invaginated by the bed rod, crushing the uterus

2. Cattle Decapitation, “Forced Gender Reassignment”

Cattle Decapitation • Metal Blade • 2012

“Forced into a body and damned with intelligence
Shoved into a soul, wired with circuitry you cannot control.”

When a band is named Cattle Decapitation, it would seem there would be little more that can be said that’s more interesting – rather more disturbing.  Unfortunately, that’s not the case.  Cattle Decapitation has a lot more issues than decapitating those poor cows, or so “Forced Gender Reassignment” would suggest.  The record dabbles in the pitfalls of Christianity and is filled with the utmost blasphemy, as well as graphic descriptions of gender reassignment.

“For this rather Christian indoctrination

It’s bound in human leather…”

“Now you’re awake, just in time as I make this incision

3. The Dark Prison Massacre, “A Blood Clot Ejaculation”

A Blood Clot Ejaculation • Pathologically Explicit Recordings • 2017

The Dark Prison Massacre have a rather nasty song on their hands with “A Blood Clot Ejaculation.” Ejaculation isn’t typically conversational subject matter, while blood clots can be plumb scary, particular a deep vein thrombosis.  Staying somewhat on topic, while it’s clear that the Chinese death metal band is going for shock value, Hematospermia (bloody ejaculate) is legitimately a condition.  The lyrics are incredibly clear… said no one ever.

4. Devourment, “Autoerotic Asphyxiation”

Butcher the Weak • Unique Leader • 2017

“Suffocating bitches delights me
When they bleed the stench is lovely
Why end myself when there are slobs a plenty

Semen leaking, madness creeping, mucus seeping out of me
I saw her from a distance now she’ll know the meaning of true pain.”

Man, oh man. Butcher the Weak is quite an album title in itself.  The song at hand, “Autoerotic Asphyxiation,” is just one of many unapologetically-titled songs.  Others gracing this album include “Masturbating at the Slab,” “Serial Cocksucker,” “Anal Electrocution,” “F**k Her Head Off,” and “Babykiller.” More shocking than the title of “Autoerotic Asphyxiation,” or any of the other songs referenced, is the subject matter. Paraphilia is in full-effect on this one.

5. Epicardiectomy, “Horrendous Festering Transmutations”

Putreseminal Morphodysplastic Virulency • New Standard Elite • 2014

Prague brutal death metal band Epicardiectomy definitely have a distinct name. An epicardiectomy is “surgical removal of the epicardium, usually performed in constrictive pericarditis to permit greater diastolic filling of the heart.” In simplest terms, it’s a heart procedure. “Horrendous Festering Transmutations” hails from an album named Putreseminal Morphodysplastic Virulency. Putre-seminal, combines putrid and seminal (semen). The prefix morph- means shape, while dysplastic could be referencing a dysplastic nevus, or an atypical skin mole that can be mistaken for melanoma. Dysplasia are “cells that look abnormal under a microscope but are not cancerous,” according to The National Cancer Institute (NCI). As for virulency, virulence is (a) “relative severity and malignancy” or (b) “The relative capacity of a pathogen to overcome body defenses.” Phew!

The song title can be broken down word by word as well.  Something that’s horrendous is horrible – simple enough.  If something festers, it putrefies or gets worst. Transmutation, the most difficult word of the bunch, in its most basic sense, is transforming or changing from one thing to another.  So, we get horrible putrefying transformation. That’s exactly what the lyrics convey as well.

6. Extermination Dismemberment, “Disemboweled Engorgement”

Serial Urbicide • Extermination Dismemberment • 2013

“Skinned bodies scattered half-eaten
Being squashed by invaders’ legs
Destruction inestimable
Nothing can stop this bloodbath.”

Judging by the name Extermination Dismemberment, the slamming brutal death metal band from Belarus aren’t playing around.  Nothing about “Disemboweled Engorgement” sounds particularly warm and fuzzy. Disembowelment is the removal of the bowels – yuck. To engorge means “to fill with blood to the point of congestion” or “to suck blood to the limit of body capacity.”  For a more specific example, when Googling the entire word, engorgement, it references a painful female breast condition where there’s an overabundance of milk.  In the context of “Disemboweled Engorgement,” the human race is being utterly destroyed and sucked of its blood.

7. Guttural Secrete, “Deadened Prior to Coitus”

Nourishing the Spoil • Brutal Bands • 2013

“Tender muscle tissue accedes lank syringe
Potent serum introduced to blood stream
Cadaver function becomes sterile
Your motionless body becomes a canvas for lunacy.”

Guttural Secrete. What a name.  That said, seems like a fitting one for a death metal band.  Guttural Secrete cover some suspect stuff musically, evidenced by “Deadened Prior to Coitus.”  Essentially, that song title suggest the person has died before sex occurs, so, necrophilia?

“Subtle taste of shit, taste bud enticing…

That’ doesn’t sound good… San Diego, California brutal death metal band Gortuary is definitely ‘one of a kind.’ So is “Mutilation by Double Penetration,” the selected song as well as the act itself…moving on…

9. Infant Annihilator, “Decapitation Fornication”

“Face the cold reality

Infant Annihilator come off so ‘charming’ on “Decapitation Fornication.” It only grows more charming as it progresses:

Parasitic Ejaculation – what a band name.  “Intrauterine Omophagia” – what a song title.  Breaking down the song title, intrauterine refers to inside the uterus. Omaphagy adds the disturbing element – it’s the eating of raw food, especially raw meat. Put the two together, and apparently, Parasitic Ejaculation are partaking of uterus. As disgusting as this is, interestingly, it occurred, at least to some extent, on the first season of American Horror Story, Murder House.

Names seem to be everything in metal music – can’t be overemphasized.  Visceral Disgorge definitely isn’t a name fit for a conversation while eating, since it involves puking.  To match their absolutely offensive name, the band has released such foul-titled songs like “Ball-Gagged and Gutted,” “Maggot Infest Fuck Hole,” and “Force Fed Shredded Genitalia.”

Jack the Ripper was an English serial killer known for the Whitechapel murders.  Fittingly, Tennessee metal band Whitechapel tackles Jack the Ripper throughout the course of their 2007 debut album, The Somatic Defilement. On the title track, Whitechapel delivers a heaping dose of hellishness. 

“I find a sense in malpracticing the common ways

Wallowing in claret. I long for such salvation

For when I’m through. I shall wear you pride upon my lips

Songs of the dead will eternally be chanted…”

Where does the filth come in? Whitechapel gets specific with the blackness –  the abuse committed by the unidentified ripper. It’s gross to the nth degree.
