5 Songs About the Infamous Armin Meiwes | Playlist 🎧

Continuing a monstrous playlist series, Armin Meiwes, the infamous Rotenburg Cannibal, gets a twisted soundtrack of 5 songs regarding his perverseness.

“I always had the fantasy and in the end, I fulfilled it.” Who is Armin Meiwes and what makes him special? Armin Meiwes, a native of Rotenburg, German, killed and ate a man. Eating human flesh makes him a cannibal.  The killing part, coupled with the sexual pleasure, now creates a new monster, vorarephilia. Just let that bit of info about Mr. Meiwes sink in. Even more screwed up is the fact that his victim, Bernd Brandes, agreed to be eaten and killed.  To quote Kendrick Lamar, DAMN.

Like most of the detestable, infamous murderers in the world, Armin Meiwes has managed to put his stamp on pop culture.  He’s not nearly as big as another deranged, homosexual serial killer (Jeffrey Dahmer), but his horrendousness hasn’t gone unnoticed.  While finding enough songs penned about Mr. Meiwes is an arduous task, a few musicians decided to go there.  So, these five songs would definitely appear on 5 Songs About the Infamous Armin Meiwes.  Hey, it’s still a hearty meal of music…yeah, probably not the best word choice there.

1. Rammstein, “Mein Teil”

Album: Reise, Reise, 2004

“Denn du bist was du isst / Und ihr wisst was es ist.” In English, the German translates into the following:

“Because you are what you eat / And you know what it is.”

While the saying is tried and true, it takes a disgusting turn given the fact Rammstein sing about Meiwes. One particular section of “Mein Teil” highlights the eating of, um, the penis.  Yes, it’s too much information, but apparently, both Meiwes and Brandes wanted to partake in this most disgusting experience.

“The blunt blade good and right / I’m bleeding hard and I’m sick / I also have to fight with the impotence / I continue eating cramps / Is so well seasoned / And so beautifully flamboyant / And so lovingly served on porcelain…”

2. Bloodbath, “Eaten”

Album: Nightmares Made Flesh, 2005

Swedish death-metal band Bloodbath jumps right into the darkness of Armin Meiwes on “Eaten.” Actually, it comes from the perspective of the Brandes, the victim.

“I’ve had one desire since I was born / To see my body ripped and torn / To see my flesh devoured before my eyes / Only for you I volunteer as a human sacrifice.”

Wow.  If Brandes’ desires weren’t captured on the verses and the pre-chorus section, Bloodbath lays it out there on the chorus.

“Eaten / My one desire, my only wish is to be / Eaten / The longer I live the more I’m dying to feel the pain…”

Fittingly, the music is as dark and disturbing as the lyrics. Loudwire named “Eaten” the 34^th best metal song of the 21^st century.  It is pretty awesome – in a twisted sort of way.

3. Stellar Ash, “One Fit Man (The Lament of Armin Meiwes)” 

Album: Growing Into Everything, 2006

Dave Rose (aka Stellar Ash) tackled dark subject matter on the penultimate track of his 2006 album, Growing Into Everything.  On “One Fit Man (The Lament of Armin Meiwes),” he discusses the arrangement between Meiwes and Brandes.  What was that arrangement? Meiwes desired a “young, well-built man, who wanted to be eaten.” The well-built part, hence, goes along with the “one fit man” title of the Stellar Ash record.  While the subject matter is dark, the music itself is quite beautiful. Rose uses electronic, synthetic sounds, as well as traditional instruments (guitars).

4. Macabre, “The Wünstenfeld Man Eater”

Album: Murder Metal, 2003

Macabre is a death metal band, born in the 80s. According to The Metal Archives, the band considers their style to be murder metal.  Technicality aside, Macabre perfectly suits many of the serial killer playlists appearing on The Musical Hype.  Thus far, they’ve appeared on An Eerie Soundtrack to Jeffrey Dahmer | Playlist, A Most Gruesome Soundtrack to John Wayne Gacy | Playlist, and 12 Songs Written About or Inspired by Ted Bundy | Playlist.  Adding to their trophies, Macabre add Armin  wes to their lengthy list of evil people on “The Wünstenfeld Man Eater.”

Expectedly, “The Wünstenfeld Man Eater” is over-the-top to the nth degree. Fitting, given what Mr. Meiwes did – Jesus! The music is ferocious, showing off incredible skill and technique.  As usual, there are few lyrics, even with this particular song running longer than many of Macabre’s other work. Predictably, Macabre gets straight to the point lyrically.

“In the German internet classifieds
Was an ad for a man’s demise
Then after death he’d eat his prize
A cannibal in modern times
Then to his ad a man replied
Agreed to what was advertised
His penis was cut off while still alive
He ate half his own penis before he died.”

5. Bondage Fairies, “Finkus Cooked My Cock”

Album: What You Didn’t Know When You Hired Me, 2006

Ah, Bondage Fairies lay claim to the concluding track on the 5 Songs About the Infamous Armin Meiwes. Fittingly, the band from Stockholm contributes the song with the best title.  Simply put, it’s not every day you hear “Finkus Cooked My Cock.”  The lyrics are brief, and while it’s not only about Mr. Meiwes, he plays a key role.

“I met this girl
Full of herpes and lies
We ate my penis
With my friend, Armin Meiwes
It tasted better
With some mushroom soy
No complains
Mr. Finkus Lahoya.”
