Melodic rapper 24kGoldn, best known for his dominant hit, “Mood, ” brings the heat in January with his first single of 2024, “Good Intentions.”
“Wipin’ off the tears, up, pickin’ up the crumbs, uh / I had good intentions ‘til I started slippin’ up, uh,” 24kGoldn asserts on his first single of 2024, “Good Intentions”. The melodic rapper/singer continues, at the tail end of the verse, “Every story ends, but it ain’t over ‘til it’s done / Ain’t too late to change your life and be exactly what you want.” Woo! “Good Intentions” runs just north of two-and-a-half minutes in duration, ample time for 24KGoldn to get his points across – talk his she-it.
The record commences mysteriously – 10 seconds of enigma! However, soon enough, it settles into standard melodic rap. The production courtesy of LeKen, Jaasu, Jonnywood, and Aksel is lush and warm – idiomatic of the genre. 24kGoldn raps with a respectable flow that can be characterized as energetic and rhythmic. Once he gets started, he’s sorta like the Energizer Bunny – he keeps going and going and going. There is only one verse, after all. In that verse, he has a lot to say, commenting on matters of the heart, the come up, depression – the whole shebang. Notably, there isn’t a break in his flow until after the final minute of the record, which signals the outro. Even within that final minute, He’s still going, even as he’s mixed more into the background. “I’m golden, you knw that / Take a look at my heart, take a glance at me,” he raps, continuing, “I’m golden, you know that / Take a shot in the dark, take a chance on me.” Will “Good Intentions” change your life? Nah, but, it’s an enjoyable, respectable offering by 24KGoldn, all told.
