13 Fabulous Forever Songs features songs by Ciara, Dua Lipa, Gunna, Noah Kahan, Rod Stewart, and Romy.
To quote the Grammy-winning pop artist, Dua Lipa, “Can we stay like this together? / Can we keep falling forever?” Per Rod Stewart, “Be courageous and be brave / And in my heart, you’ll always stay / Forever young, forever young.” Food for thought. As for the talented Vermont singer/songwriter, Noah Kahan, “When forever was a sentence, sentence to death / Oh, when you were a running tear, I was a drop of sweat.” The common thread between these three songs is one word: FOREVER. 13 Fabulous Forever Songs is a collection of 13 songs that explore forever and forever-ness… or something like that! This playlist marks the long-awaited sequel to 15 Songs Whose Focus Is on Forever (2020). 13 Fabulous Forever Songs features songs by Ciara, Dua Lipa, Gunna, Noah Kahan, Rod Stewart, and Romy. There is something forever wise for everybody in this musical compendium. So, without further ado, it’s time to dive into FOREVER… or, minimally, whet the palate!

1. Gunna, “Forever Be Mine” (Ft. WizKid)
The Last Wun » Young Stoner Life / 300 Entertainment » 2025
“She know I’m one a of a kind
She don’t see none of these guys
She know I don’t do no womanizin’
I stroke her and give her massages
I push her and tell her to strive
Rolls Phantom, I let her recline
She say, ‘You forever be mine’.”
Gunna also performs the first and third verses. “Hit it like a clutch, put some speed on it, uh,” he spits in the first verse, and continues, “Open it, lick it, and spit on it.” Damn! In the third verse, he informs us, “Lil’ mama fine, a mermaid.” Word. WizKid provides some minor contributions to the second iteration of the chorus (can you say, “uh”). His main claim to fame is performing the second verse. “She said forever be mine (Mm) / Baby, na you be my type (Mm),” he asserts, and adds, “I day with you (My lady one of a kind) / She don’t see none of you guys, she know I’m one of a kind.” Confident to the nth degree! All in all, “Forever Be Mine” is another enjoyable melodic rap joint by Gunna.

3. Dua Lipa, “Falling Forever
Radical Optimism » Warner Records UK » 2024
In the second verse, which is shorter, Dua Lipa is in the same mindset. “And eternity’s impossible to measure,” she sings, and concludes, “But it feels right where we are.” Word. The chorus is the crème de la crème – the crowning achievement:
“How long, how long
Can it just keep getting better?
Can we keep falling forever?
How long, how long
Can we stay like this together?
Can we keep falling forever?”
The bridge distinguishes itself in sound from the verses and chorus. Still, the theme is connected as Dua Lipa wants to know, “Can you ride through any storm? / Can you ride from night till dawn? Till tomorrow and beyond.” Well, can you, boy? “Falling Forever” is a treat – a surefire vibe. Beyond the awesome, commanding vocals of Dua Lipa, memorable lyrics, and tuneful melodies, “Forever” features a sickening groove and a colorful, strong musical accompaniment. Can you ever go wrong with pummeling drums, and decadent keys and synths? It’s rhetorical, by the way!

4. Russ, “Forever”
W!LD » DIEMON » 2025
“Forever” commences with smooth guitar accompaniment. A confident groove provides a strong anchor. With matters of the heart referenced in the excerpted lyrics from the second verse, it’s unsurprising that the R&B vibes are pronounced in the track. Russ serves up beautiful melodic vocals, singing the chorus:
“You know everything about me, I know everything about you
You don’t wanna live without me, I don’t wanna live without you (I don’t, I don’t)
That’s why we gotta stay together
You can’t keep leavin’, expect me to believin’ that you want forever
I’m scared I love you more than you love me (Me)
Tell me that you’re down but you up and leave (Leave)
Oh-oh-oh
You can’t keep leavin’, expect me to believin’ that you want forever (Yeah, yeah).”
That’s personal and quite emotional. Nice background vocals and harmonies also accentuate the chorus. Russ is his most rhythmic during the two verses yet maintains pitch. “Chompin’ at the bit, but shit, my tooth hurts / We should’ve let the dust settle,” he spits in the first verse, and adds, “Instead of screamin’, poppin’ blood vessels / Fightin’ dirty, girl, we mud wrestle.” Beyond the lyrics excerpted earlier from the second verse, he adds, “While we’re still afloat, let’s decide if we’re done sinkin’ (Please).” If there are no other takeaways, forever is firmly planted in Russ’s mind on “Forever.”

5. Rod Stewart, “Forever Young”
Out of Order » Warner » 1988
The songwriting on “Forever Young” is fabulous. The chorus is the centerpiece, but the verses are delightful too. “May the good Lord be with you / Down every road you roam,” Stewart sings in the first verse, continuing, “And may sunshine and happiness / Surround you when you’re far from home.” In the second verse, the encouragement continues: “Build a stairway to Heaven / With a prince or a vagabond.” So, status doesn’t matter, as long as they love the person they choose to build a life with. Sweet! The third verse is marvelous, too: “And when you finally fly away / I’ll be hoping that I served you well.” Addressed to his children, Stewart wishes the best for them and hopes he’s been a good, upstanding father. Stewart brings the memorable lyrics to life with his distinct, instantly recognizable pipes. Who sounds like Rod, after all? Adding to the magnificence is the exuberant, major-key, pop/rock accompaniment which embraces the 1980s fully. Even as “Forever Young” pushes 40, it’s timeless – one of Stewart’s best.

6. Romy, “Always Forever”
“Always Forever” » Young » 2024
“Always Forever” is sweet from the get-go. The instrumental commences colorfully and warmly. The ears are blessed with lovely, detuned synths. Also, an awesome groove is established at the onset. Initially, the groove is on the reserved side but ‘ups the ante’ during the chorus. From there, the beat continues in its busy, driving glory. Speaking of the chorus, it is the section to beat. It’s repetitive but dedicated and potent to the nth degree.
“I love you (Always forever)
Near and far (Closer together)
Everywhere (I will be with you)
Everything (I will do for you).”
Can you feel the love? Ooh-wee! Besides the dedicated, romantic, and supportive lyrics, Romy ‘puts in work’ with her cool yet commanding vocals. She doesn’t break a sweat yet every lyric and note she sings feels crucial! Besides her compelling lead, the layered vocals are sweet blending in sublimely with the ornate, electronic production. Another selling point? “Always Forever” benefits from its tuneful melodies. Regardless of sexual preference, everybody can get behind Romy’s dedication in “Always Forever”. It’s lit 🔥!

7. Yeat, “FOREVER AGAIN”
LYFESTYLE » Field Trip Recordings / UMG Recordings, Inc. » 2024
“FOREVER AGAIN” features a picturesque musical backdrop, filled with synths and pads. Yes, synths are a typical part of the Yeat listening experience, but it hits differently here. This is NOT your typical hip-hop/rap backdrop. Given this unexpected sound, he allows himself to go out of his comfort zone… well, to an extent. “Girl, I know you like this lifestyle (Woo, oh) / Know you like this lifestyle, you can’t keep away (Woo, oh),” he melodically raps, and continues, “Yeah, I get you bent, get you broken, throw away, yeah (Woo, oh) / Beg, you gotta ask if it’s okay (Woo-uh, ayy).” Woo! There is no shortage of confidence – the man is ambitious!
“And I’m geekin’, I ride with a gun, in the big body Tonka today (Woo-uh, ayy)
Yeah, we come out, we chasin’ the sun, and we countin’ my bands today.”
Word! In this melodic performance, he exhibits a distinctly different cadence and flow. A pop, electro-oriented hip-hop track is ear-catching, that’s for sure! Interestingly, “FOREVER AGAIN” features two lengthy, repeated choruses, adding to the unusual, irregular nature of the track. “FOREVER AGAIN” is odd yet oddly satisfying. Pardon my French, but this shit slaps! There is something hypnotic and mesmerizing about it.

8. Ciara, “Forever” (Ft. Lil Baby)
CiCi » Beauty Marks Entertainment » 2025
Ciara delivers a solid vocal performance. The melodies are equally rhythmic and tuneful. At the end of the first verse, she sings, “One plus another one is better / Than spendin’ all your time alone.” True, as long as it’s an optimal situation, as Ledisi describes in her song, “Add to Me” from her 2017 album, Let Love Rule. The chorus marks the most memorable, tuneful moment of “Forever.” First revealed in the intro, it is repetitive, simple, and, fittingly, hooky. Lil Baby performs the second verse. “I know you won’t stick unless it’s meant to be / Late-night phone calls, vent to me,” he raps, and continues, “All I really do is think about it / You know I gotta handle, never doubt me / How you think this shit’d be without me? (Really).” Like Ciara, he embraces a melodic, rhythmic rap approach. He contrasts Ciara yet also complements her. Both artists are lifted by a respectable, hip-hop-infused contemporary R&B backdrop. All told, “Forever” is an enjoyable, respectable, and well-rounded song that doesn’t move the needle. Unfortunately, it missed both the pop and R&B/hip-hop songs charts. Bummer!

9. Noah Kahan, “Forever”
Stick Season (Forever) » Mercury/ Republic » 2024
“Forever” commences with an acoustic guitar. It’s all warm sounds and vibes. Emulating Justin Vernon, Kahan impresses with his gorgeous falsetto vocals. To reiterate, the lyrics are thoughtful. Furthermore, the melodies are tuneful, and Noah brings it with his passionate vocal performance. There is pure balladry in the first verse, where he recollects, “When we kissed in the car in the school parking lot / Where I’d go with my friends to get drunk / Used to wish I meant anything to anywhere.” The pre-chorus (excerpted earlier) and chorus are both ballad-like, though they possess a bit more oomph compared to the first verse. Both mark top-notch moments from “Forever.” In the chorus, he sings:
“I won’t be alone for the rest of my life
I’ll build a boat for when the river gets high
And I’ll meet a girl in the heat of July
… That I broke a bone that never healed in my hand
So, when I hold her close
I might loosen my grip, but I won’t ever let her go.”
Specifically, via his Genius-verified video, Kahan mentions his real-life broken finger. After the 2:15 mark, “Forever” picks up the tempo and becomes even livelier during the second verse.
“Remember when we called the cops
‘Cause I got too high, and you got scared
And the cops just laughed?”
There is no pre-chorus following the second verse, only the chorus in the new tempo. The last 30 seconds of the track return to a slower tempo on the outro. The outro is the pre-chorus that precedes the first chorus. All in all, “Forever” is another stellar Noah Kahan song. Elite songwriting, elite vocals, and elite sound and production. Simply put, this man oozes with talent.

10. The O’Jays, “Forever Mine”
Identify Yourself » Sony Music Entertainment » 1979
“We’ve been around
And I had a lot of loves, and I know you had a lot of loves too
But I ain’t never had nobody
That do the things you do.”
Topping the likes of seminal hits like “Back Stabbers” and “Love Train” is a tall task. “Forever Mine” doesn’t eclipse those gems but gives the legendary soul collective a fantastic hit following their most lucrative period.

11. CeCe Winans, “Holy Forever”
More Than This » Pure Springs Gospel, Inc. » 2024
The main takeaway from “Holy Forever” is the awesomeness of the Savior. Chris Tomlin successfully conveyed that in the original. Winans powerfully lauds Him, too: “Your name is the highest / Your name is the greatest.” The pre-chorus is a fabulous preface to the soaring chorus, the most memorable section of the song. Tomlin and the choir ‘brought it’ in the original. Here, CeCe and choir ‘bring it’ too. She sounds elite vocally blessing us with her anointed instrument. She’s powerful but never over-sings, providing just the right punch. Throughout the rest of “Holy Forever,” she superbly brings authenticity, energy, and expressiveness. No extensive analysis is necessary. “Holy Forever” speaks for itself.

13. The Little Dippers, “Forever”
“Forever” » University RecordsTM / 43 North Broadway, LLC » 1960
“Forever” features an old-school, lush, warm instrumental comprised of guitar, dreamy piano, bass, and drums. It commences with bass and drums, with piano and guitar joining afterwards. The gorgeous, soothing, easygoing vocals of The Little Dippers match the dreamy nature of the instrumental. This is evidenced by the centerpiece and major section, the unforgettable chorus, excerpted above. Notably, the instrumental is allowed to shine, arguably even more than the vocals. During the bridge, The Little Dippers sing on syllables rather than lyrics: “Ah-ah-ah-ooh, ooh, ah-oh,” etc. It is simplistic, but highly effective. Beyond the stellar instrumental and celestial vocals, a gorgeous harmonic progression helps the record to shine. A timely key change, executed flawlessly, is another selling point. No extensive analysis is necessary when describing “Forever” by The Little Dippers. This is a brief but magical early ‘60s gem. Sigh, they simply don’t make songs that sound like this anymore.
