ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out SIX notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and SIX observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Vince Staples earning the top debut on the Billboard 200 at no. 21 while 🎙 BTS earns another no. 1 on the Hot 100.

Billboard 200 📉

💭 In an uneventful week, 🎙 Olivia Rodrigo spends a second straight, and fourth nonconsecutive week at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her debut album, 💿 SOUR.

💭 🎙 Doja Cat holds serve at no. 2 for the third consecutive week with 💿 Planet Her.

💭 With no debuts in the top 20, 🎙 Vince Staples earns the highest debuting new entry on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Vince Staples (no. 21).

💭 🎙 Snoh Aalegra launches at no. 24 with her third studio album, 💿 Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.

💭 Way down the charts, rapper 🎙 IDK debuts at no. 164 with 💿 USee4Yourself.   

💭 Even further down the chart, 🎙 The Wallflowers launch at no. 183 with 💿 Exit Wounds


Billboard Hot 100 📉 

 

💭 Yes, 🎙 BTS is still no. 1 on the Hot 100. The difference is that 🎵 “Butter” slides from no. 1 to no. 7, while 🎵 “Permission to Dance” debuts at no. 1.

💭 BTS aren’t the only ones flying high on the Hot 100. 🎙 The Kid LAROI and 🎙 Justin Bieber debut at no. 3 with their collaborative single, 🎵 “Stay”.

💭 🎙 Post Malone launches at no. 13 with 🎵 “Motley Crew”.

💭 🎙 BIA, assisted by 🎙 Nicki Minaj, sees 🎵 “Whole Lotta Money” (the remix) bow respectably at no. 16.

💭 🎙 Billie Eilish scores another debuting single on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “NDA” which starts at no. 39.

💭 🎙 Kane Brown and 🎙 blackbear see their unlikely collaboration, 🎵 “Memory”, launch at no. 50.
