4 out of 5 stars

Continually Rising Alternative Pop star Tove Lo Impresses on latest single, “Cool Girl.” “Cool Girl” has the potential to be a big hit.

Tove Lo has rapidly ascended in the music world.  Her debut, Queen of the Clouds was certified platinum. Additionally, Queen of the Clouds features two multiplatinum singles with “Talking Body” and the crème de la crème, “Habits (Stay High).” If those accolades aren’t stunning enough, Tove Lo adds another platinum single with Nick Jonas collaboration, “Close.”

Tove Lo’s star continues to rise.  Exceptional single “Cool Girl” is the next milestone in her ascent.  The single is slickly produced, incorporating elements of EDM and urban-pop.  Danceable, the groove is infectious as albeit.

Making “Cool Girl” even cooler is the fact that it is inspired by a scene from the film Gone Girl, according to Rolling Stone.  What is Tove Lo’s M.O.? She is trying to do whatever it takes to win him over.

On the verses, Tove Lo employs low-key, cool vocals. Naturally, the voice expands more beginning on the pre-chorus.  The chorus is simple but expectedly catchy:

“I’m a cool girl, I’m a, I’m a cool girl / Ice cold, I roll my eyes at you, boy”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “Gone Girl” has the potential to be a big hit.  It is magnificently produced and features an irresistible, danceable groove. Furthermore, Tove Lo delivers solid vocals. Clearly, “she’s got it going on.”
