Motionless in White, Graveyard Shift © RoadrunnerMetal collective Motionless in White returns with single “LOUD (Fuck It),” which delivers a deeper, more resonant message than its title suggests.

Scranton, Pennsylvania metal band Motionless in White don’t seem to give a… At least that seems to be the case judging by the title of brash, new single, “LOUD (Fuck It).”  Indeed, the record is loud, just as the title suggests, but it’s louder in messaging.

While the title is arguably off-putting, Motionless in White has a respectable message.  On the first verse, vocalist Chris Motionless perfectly paints a picture of being a participant in an undesirable life.

“Another day, a double shot of hate
Drink it up like gasoline
Underpaid, you graduate
To build somebody else’s dream.”

The end of the first verse truly ups the ante for the message of perseverance and resolve.  “And when they turn their backs on you,” Motionless sings:

“You gotta be loud, you gotta be rude
So the world can hear you
You gotta be crass, you gotta be cold
It’s everything we know
Turn it up, turn it up now
Loud, rude
When nobody hears you
You gotta stand up, you gotta commit
Say, ‘Fuck it,’ make the best of it.”

Sure, the f-bomb is for dramatic effect, but the point is spot-on.  When people doubt you and forget about you, be more aggressive – show them your toughness.  The adversity continues on the second verse, but the advice remains sound: “Don’t become another victim / Put a smile on that face.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, Motionless in White have something with “LOUD (Fuck It).” Don’t judge a single by its title – it might surprise.  “LOUD” has the expected metal cues – shouted vocals, jagged guitars, and minor key – but the deeper lyrics are noteworthy.
